What about Betternet? They say they don’t sell any information display ads instead but I’ve never got an ad on the app
You could have posted pictures. The “some reason” you couldn’t is because you didn’t take 30 seconds to figure out how. Find an image hosting service, upload the pics, and copy and paste.in your post. There’s a how to post guide that will tell you all you need to know.
Hey you should listen to the recommended and make a Robinhood account and use my referral code so we can both get a free stock.
You should consider adding a link to That One Privacy Site, it has a detailed overview of tons of VPN providers.
For a decent VPN, consult r/VPN or That One Privacy Site
I use IPVanish, very fast and as far as we can tell very secure. Some articles say they are in the “14-eyes” but they also say places like Hong Kong are good for VPNs… yeah, they actually say China is better for your privacy. You are meant to involuntarily spit your coffee on your screen at this point. It’s a bit of advice that beats any comedy script that Hollywood has managed in the last few decades.
This shows how little Google cares about our privacy.
This is what I was referring to, because they are originally around $10-$20. Having them on sale for free doesn’t instantly justify what they are doing, they are shady from the beginning.
Free isn’t necessarily bad. It depends what you’re trying to accomplish? Prevent snoopers from stealing your data when you’re at a public hotspot? Fine. Trying to get around 3 letter agencies? Not fine.
The software should be free, because the standard VPN encryption protocols are open and well known and thoroughly reviewed
I once heard the saying that if you get something for free, then you are the product, not the consumer.
Also open VPN plus encrypted free VPN provided by some universities. Those should be okay as well.
That isn’t more secure, your ISP would still heut get all the unencrypted data from your server.
the point of vpn is to anonymize your access. if it’s going to one computer in your network or your cloud server, it’s still tied to your account/ISP.
Isn’t HTTPS enough to protect you from public wifi, or am I missing something here? I don’t see the point other than hiding which website you’re trying to connect to.
I’m having a hard time understanding what you just said to me, because you’re quoting my post where I go on to say “It’s still going through someone’s server/s”, but then you hit me with
Your Internet usage always goes through someone else’s server!
Am I missing something here? We’re both agreeing here. Also I REALLY want to drive a point home. I am NOT anti-VPN. Never did I say that in any of the comments or my OP. I said I don’t care what my ISP or general public sees. In fact, I’ve torrented a few things in my life, and I’ve used a few vpn services out there, still don’t really care, because I’ve done it unprotected and nothing has ever happened. There is a difference between not caring and expressing your opinion of what you are pro or anti about.
And again, not trying to catch you in the act of your argument, but the fact that you just said
I might even trust these shitty apps more than Gogo
Makes me worry
Why download the Psiphon APK from the website? Is there something wrong with the play store version?
you forgot open source one sponsored by us gov beginning with letter L
Well, their business model is to unblock PornHub for countries or ISPs who could block access and/or throttle you. So expected result of the free tier is you getting PH Premium, I think. They still have the premium tier so you can use them as a legit VPN
Just stick with the big names people have mentioned:
OpenVPN
NordVPN
ProtonVPN
Edit: Formatting
