Will a VPN make my ping better in ROBLOX?

if you’ve ever played ROBLOX you’ll probably already know that the matchmaking is terrible. I live in tennessee and I’m constantly being connected to hong kong, the UK, virginia, etc.

this gives me horrible ping upwards of 200 to 300 sometimes spiking to 1000. I’ve been trying to find a solution to it for a few days now. competitive games in ROBLOX are extremely reliant on ping for the most part (deepwoken is really good, you should try it.)

I keep finding conflicting information and I’m not really technically literate even though I was raised on the internet. people saying a VPN will help and then other people saying it’ll make things worse.

internet speed test says my internet is very fast if that’s any help at all.

I do personally use Surfshark.

But remember that it is not all about the VPN, but your type of Internet Service and its reliability play an essential role.

i don’t play roblox so this might not be possible but aren’t you able to set a region or pick a server yourself?

you aren’t able to, no, which is a real shame.

I’ve been wanting this feature since 2012 and while the matchmaking has gotten a lot better it’s not ideal and I still get connected to servers far away from me.

it seems like they prioritize getting you in the game over which region they send you to. I’ve been trying to find any kind of solution for it and I’m at a loss.

VPNs cause ROBLOX to kick you from a server, sometimes with the error code “Your connection has timed out”.

Most of the time, the code is 277.

hasn’t been my experience. I used to use NordVPN for reasons unrelated to ping and never got kicked.

However, some VPN IPs you connect to could cause a high increase in pings.
