That’s what I stopped using it disconnects
If anyone is looking for a good VPN to use I can really recommend to check this spreadsheet out. Hope it helps!
free ones are crap! Get a paid VPN lots of good options out there
I’m not trying to be a dick by saying this, but I’m not sure you understand what a VPN is used for. Although, I guess technically some VPN’s can block malicious websites, they’re not typically used to block viruses. That’s just an antivirus program.
VPN is to protect you from copyright violations. They are extremely necessary, depending on what you use on your FireStick. Like Stremio + a Debrid service is great, but a lot of it is torrents, so you need a layer of protection for that.
Nord is worth every penny, super reliable and simple.
Sorry, not free though.
By reading this I can tell you know what your talking about and I appreciate your wisdom in this area. What is the ideal setup to protect a small home network? Thank you
What are you doing when it disconnects? Free version does not support P2P… Could be that
Whatever it’s used for I watch what I want without it Mr Tech .
Here is my upvote. Ty.
No sir. I am not a guru or a wiz by any means. I learned like everyone else and I learn something new everyday along with some schooling in computer science, development and coding. then finally networking and I honestly did not finish that certification until recently , it’s not the same as a home new work set up however a lot of the info can be applied. Networking it’s more of server work or backend API maintenance etc, however through all of this I learned that sometimes the simplest precautions are the best and in 2025 with the lack of privacy, malicious and nefarious services we use and don’t realize it when streaming , we all should at least try to protect ourselves.
The point I was making is a free VPN isn’t free , you are the product via adware , ip stamping so the can’t say the log , email being sold to data brokers and so on, another example even if you use a fake or temp email to set it up , your real email is linked to your device that your using so in this case your Amazon fire stick, which that free VPN will also get the devices IP , serial number , and other info and you run your traffic through that service (via the free VPN service) , and your security is as good as you’re weakest link. Free VPN’s stay free because they make money off your data , think about it this way, there is service maintenance, the domain portals , their front end panels or the apps and UI that are used to connect from. All of this has to be maintained and costs money .
For the home network, again I think the best you can do is try to use the good security based VPN. A VPN location in the 5,9,14 eyes group. A Non cooperative VPN’, good DNS resolvers ( which a good VPN should have ) , then from there, you can go heavy. However most do not have to do with streaming but you can get interval software that will automatically change locales over a period of time to keep or IP moving , there are tools like FING to look for network leaks, vulnerabilities or exploits in your home network and the free version of that will be good enough for a average user , I personally got a Black Friday deal for pro being it’s good software , you can get it off the AppStore or google play , windows and MacOS and Linux or FING.com
Finally , there is a tool out there for windows and Android currently (more coming) that will monitor your VPN in conjunction with your VPN , as in say your VPN didn’t have a kill switch (which it should ) the software will alert you of loss in VPN connection and and detect any DNS leaks as well . Non of it has to be super complicated just get good protection and maybe an all in one tool to help monitor said connections. This one I am speaking on has been around for a while for firesticks & windows in particular - https://vpnsafetysot.com.
Happy holidays to you and I hope some of that info helps , I could be leaving something out at this time however, it’s doesn’t have to be crazy , just use good products that want to protect you and your info then you can use free versions of stuff like the VPN dot for monitoring although I would pay the $15 for a lifetime license if you plan on streaming for at least a year it’s worth the price as well as the FING service , they provide apps , apks, that will alert you if your network is being attacked , who and what devices are on your network and so on.
This will vary from each home at up on what you may need but to me these are the basics if you want to be serious and keep in mind if you are being targeted specifically nothing is fool proof . However most ripple are not being targeted , we just want to watch movies
Anyway merry Christmas and I hope the info helps . If anyone wants to add in lease so I may have forgotten some info . Again, Happy Holidays to you !!
You should probably learn what it is before you start talking about it. It’s biggest use is to prevent your ISP from tracking what you’re doing and they can and will throttle you if they want.
Could you possibly help me get a cracked vpn on the fire stick to watch movies and whatnot? You seem very knowledgeable with it all
Mr Tech… whatever… it’s been over 40 years I am on a computer…. Go ahead and read again what I said… I’m not convinced I need one.
Sure , I do want to say upfront and forward. It’s ill-advised , but I do get it. Times are tough. Tonight is a tad late, but are you ok with me dm’ing you ? I never do so without permission. This way, I can explain a tad more, and I’ll steer you right to a good source as well as get you a working one of your choice. Lmk !
It’s like wearing a seatbelt or a condom, you don’t need one… until you do… and then it’s too late. You have proven you don’t understand what a VPN is for by your comments.
I’d appreciate the dm, you can hit me up whenever I’m usually on and off here randomly
Please pm me with this information if you don’t mind
Lol, this guy man! Obviously he knows best. You can’t tell some people anything can ya?!
