Added that and more under the new category “VPN Features” on the sheet
Free VPNs should be avoided. They’re only good for limited downloading or torrenting. Paid VPNs are the way to go—they offer better protection in the long run.
*top tier free list" is an oxymoron
Just took another look and updated some of the ratings, it’s now ranking a little higher
I think it’s because they were bought and so a lot of what could happen
Updated the score for Windscribe accordingly
Will look into adding that!
Check under “VPN Features → Simultaneous Devices”
Most VPNs are super simple to use, it’s pretty much 3 clicks or less when it’s installed. Only thing that might be a little touchy is point 3, it all depends on what you are allowed/can install on your desktop at work.
When the VPN are on, it’s on. No need to change anything. So there is nothing you really need to think about after connecting the VPN.
What’s port forwarding?
Can I ask why? If I were to download games from a place like Fitgirl Repacks, would Nord keep me safe legally?
How about streaming services? I’ve been with PIA for years and I find they can’t keep up with the BBC’s countermeasures because it’s rare that I can actually watch iPlayer most days.
Apologies, didn’t notice that, but felt like it’s a standout feature so hope it helps someone. Great job to anyone that did the list!
Port forwarding allows external devices to connect to specific devices on a private network, enabling remote access to services like security cameras, servers, remote desktops, etc. This can be useful by essentially creating a direct connection between a remote device and a device on your home network.
This isn’t a feature all VPN’s have and it may or may not matter for you depending on your use case. Definitely encourage a quick youtube search to see if it may be something you’re interested in utilizing in the future.
ProtonVPN is good and offers similar features to AirVPN, but I disliked how my IP and ports kept changing every time I connected. It made things unnecessarily complicated. I’ve been using AirVPN for a year now and haven’t felt the need to switch.
