My router supports VPN servers, and I set up one through OpenVPN. All I had to do was generate a file from my router and use it on the device I want to use to access my home network. Is this generally safe? I have a server hosting some apps I want to access (NextCloud, Immich etc).
Yes, its what I do, I have a 10gig fiber at home with a static IP, and do exactly this, When I travel I carry a GL.iNet Beryl AX that has the switch on the side tied to turning on the VPN as needed, and everything connects to that, and appears as if I’m home.
Thanks! I am new to this and I want to make sure I can keep my network safe and access it when I am off site. I will keep researching for additional measures!
