New to VPN

Im new to VPN and not sure which one to get. I’m not exactly sure what I’m looking for. I just want one so that no one or no website can track me and pinpoint I was there for privacy. Is that even possible with a VPN?

Do VPN make it so that you’re not traceable and no “footprint”?

While a vpn can’t make you untraceable, it’s a good first step in privacy, something to consider is that you are giving the trust of your data to a vpn provider as opposed to your isp, so something to think about

If all you want is to have websites track you less, you can try something call Hardenfirefox. It really depends on how much you are willing to trade tho. If that is too much, you can follow this post top comment. https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/kfydog/specifically_what_is_hardened_firefox/

VPN makes it harder for ISP to track you but you are entrusting all you online data to their company.

It really depends on how much convenience you are to trade with privacy and security (from my understanding but I can be wrong), If you want to be less traceable and leave less footprint, you can try TOR with the right set up. idk

A good thing to fight tracking is to use uBlock Origin extension in your browser.

Awww I see thank you. And thank you for the other sub for more info.

Is there any VPN that you would recommend?

I guess you’re always going to have to give your data to someone I guess it’s whether or not it is more protected. Is it more protected? If not, what’s the point of changing your ip other that watching a show not shown in your area. Like isn’t the point of changing your IP so that it doesn’t look like you logged into that site

Yeah this is true, I guess vpn is best when you are using a public network/ trying to stream shows available in another location, technically your data is encrypted, but it depends on the vpn provider with how your data is managed

Why can’t providers be named? Why the rule?
