I just landed in Shenzhen yesterday (am staying here for 2 years) & NordVPN didn’t work So I took my colleague’s advice, went to Hong Kong after work & set up a bunch of VPN free trials for my laptop at a Starbucks near the HK border
And now here I am, gleefully checking my gmail account and whatsapping in the comforts of my Shenzhen hotel room 54 bucks annually for 2 devices (which is not a lot) is an absolute steal!!! (Didn’t bother to try Astrill because there’s no free trial and I’m on a budget)
After reading a bit about Letsvpn, their usage policy stated that " NOT to use the service for things that could hurt our network or other people. ". I also cannot find anything about that name beside that website or company behind it. It seems a bit weird, but that can just be me, or… the service can be for something else.
A colleague here in China says Let’s works great. NORD does shit in China regardless what they advertise. I just banged out Astrill for another year at an amazing $160. Never again on the Astrill. It’s just too overpriced.
i wanted to download letsvpn on my pc but BitDefender flagged it as malware. does anyone know if it’s a false alarm or genuine concern? i know there are a lot of lookalike websites but i went on letsvpn.world which is the “official” site as far as i am aware.
Theres a joke among us foreigners at school that think LetsVPN is used by the Chinese government to monitor what we do because of how good it is. Half joking, half not.
+1, I live in Hong Kong and recommended this to my coworker who’s from mainland China — she said Mullvad worked perfectly for her when she went back for a week recently as well
$160 is certainly too much lol. I got free company vpn at work but they didn’t grant a free vpn for my personal devices (understandable but a real bummer…)
NORD and countless other VPNs should be banned for false advertising, “work in China” my ass
