The reason you don’t hear about these publicly is because the case doesn’t go anywhere thanks to the no-logging policy. They request data, we tell them we don’t have any and that’s that.
And that’s the end of the request? No being called into court to verify the non-existence of ANY data? No requests for user lists gleaned from payments? The people requesting data simply shrug their shoulders and walk away? Really?
You’re just used to shady anonymous VPN owners wanting to keep obscene profits to pay affiliates 50% of their revenue, buy night clubs, IRC networks, etc.
Very correct! In Russia, the head of the information security center of our FBI was sentenced to 23 years for crimes on the Internet. He knew better about security, but that did not save him.
Yes. By making a statement to law enforcement that we keep no logs we’re stating a fact. If we’re lying, we go to jail. We don’t want to go to jail, so it’s dumb to lie about it. It’s easier to not actually keep identifying logs.
Not at the moment but I plan on writing an end-of-year newsletter post for this subreddit in a couple of weeks. I’ll include details about the future plans as well.
