I just downloaded something called driver booster and it popped a butch of shit on my screen like Itop VPN, Itop Screen Recorder, Itop video editor and Itop PDF . and when it popped up avast one gave me an alert but i didnt see it. I am shitting my pants can someone let me know if this is a virus?
Adding to this asking if IOBit is a malicious company
0celot is right, drivers don’t need bosters however I wouldnt go as far as saying resetting your PC. I would however run a scam with malwarebytes free version to detect PUP’s. I would also run hitman pro to detect any remnants and that should do the trick. I would highly reccomend swapping to a better AV instead of avast like kaspersky or bitdefenders free versions.
There is NO malicious insert by installing iobit driver booster. At the normal version they procrastinate you with some programs like itop vpn and some more. At this point i normally would check the install file on virustotal or simply check the file signature.
and if you are on nearly recent hardware you can easily hold all your drivers up-to-date with driver booster.
This behaviour you described also happens on the paid driver booster pro version and is maybe unwanted, but definately not malicious.
hey. at the beggining it ask you at the bottom if you whant to install other app and i think you didn’t unchecked them
No, but it’s not good. Drivers do not need boosters, and that’s not a real thing. Sorry.
Fortinet claassifies it as Riskware: https://www.fortiguard.com/encyclopedia/virus/6751466
IOBit isn’t good either: https://www.fortiguard.com/encyclopedia/virus/10080623
Edit: My advice? If you’re running Windows 10+, reset your pc. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5
It’s an updating drivers program dude… Booster is just part of the name
Good thing Driver Booster is just the name and not what it actually does.
