Is there such a thing as a website based VPN?

Lets say that you are using a network at school or work, but the admin has blocked Facebook or some other site you want to access

Instead of downloading a VPN or tampering with the connection settings, is there some sort of website you can go to instead, and have all your data relayed trough that website?

That would be a proxy.

i think dtunnel.net is what you’re looking for but i would not trust them at all for sensitive data.

Lol when I was in high school we just downloaded/installed FireFox on a USB drive and that bypassed the school firewall. We could go to whatever websites we wanted.

Sure there’s web proxies. But if you sign into Facebook with them they’re going to acquire your login credentials. Unlike if you have a VPN on your computer in which case it doesn’t acquire login details because the session is encrypted between you and Facebook in your browser.

But if you sign into Facebook with them they’re going to acquire your login credentials.

That’s not true. The connection to Facebook is encrypted end to end via tls in the browser since they use https. The only thing they can see is that you have encrypted traffic with facebook.

It can only be decrypted if the proxy can serve you a trusted certificate issued to Facebook and MITM the connection. Which, outside managed corporate environments has almost 0 chance to happen.

Edit: they can actually try with untrusted certificates but you will either get a big red warning at least or the connection can be even forbidden totally by your browser if the site has strict HSTS enforced.
