I’m not sure if a VPN would be the right decision for something like this, but I know this was my first possibility I thought to look into. I am cool with paying for a premium feature if need be, but i just really need something along those lines if possible. please feel free to share any and all suggestions! Thank you in advance
Install device with a VPN at the location and connect to the device.
Is the app not checking GPS? Get a false GPS app.
Put a computer there, connect it to the internet and then set it up as a vpn server using some services such as openvpn
Also even you did that it still might not work like what you think since it is almost impossible for a ip to be associated with a real physical address.
Yes but the IP itself also has to be tied to an address
sorry i’m just a bit confused what you mean/how i would do that. i’ll kinda explain my situation. i have medical appointments i have to go to and i get reimbursed for the mileage i have to drive to the appointments, and they’re 6 days a week… horrible. also, the drive is approx 1 hour and 25 minutes one way, then back. so I am planning to drive to a friends to crash for the night this week, and i’m going the night before the appointment.
I use this app that checks my location when i’m leaving home, and checks it when i get to the appointment location, and if im not within a good 50-75 feet of the location, it does not allow me to log the trip and will say “You are not near the location provided”.
Soooooo, today i’ve been trying to figure out a way to finesse the app a bit, and i turned on a random VPN, and as I expected, it said i was not near the starting address. So it got me thinking if there’s a way i could just memorize my IP address for my wifi at home and somehow enter that into my phone (not sure if that’s even a thing) and see if it would work possibly that way… so it’s a bit confusing, that’s just the best way i can describe it. and the other issue i’ve been running into, it only works on mobile devices, nothing on laptops, no “desktop version” of the website, and it just has to be done on a phone/tablet (maybe).
I have had my mother download the app i have to use and log into my account her phone and press the “I’m leaving” button, had her just log out, or maybe just close the app, but re-logged into my acct on MY phone, and it worked that way.
I know this is probably a pretty odd thing to hear about, but i have no employment at the moment due to some pretty major surgeries that i am still recovering from, so I really have no way of making money, nor can i cover the amount of gas it takes everyday, but that reimbursement is pretty much all i have until i’m finished with what i have going with the physical therapy and whatnot.
Sorry for the damn essay, but i just figured this would help others understand a little better.
This is almost the only way
Exactly, it’s not your ip it’s checking it’s checking your gps.
If you can run a vpn server on your router and use that on your phone should work I guess, if the app is not actually looking at the gps location. If it is(highly likely) then you will have to spoof your gps location. I am not sure how you will do that as it depends on the device you have and also if app can detect if the location is spoofed or not.
No, a VPN isn’t going to help. The app is going to get the location information from your phone’s GPS info, not from the IP address. It’s like how Waze or Google Maps can show your exact location on a map when you open those apps on your phone, they don’t use the IP info, cell tower info, etc. I’m guessing you’re going to have to continue getting your mom to open the app on her phone, using your account, and then you later opening the app on your phone when you get there.
He COULD not allow the phone location, and only go by VPN.
Or… Use a false GPS locator app. This isn’t an IP problem at all.
Most employer phone and pcs wont let you install software in them
