Sorry if this is the wrong sub I posted this to, This was the closest I could find to discussing stuff related to torrents and vpns, Most of the subs that I might find close to talking about vpns are all restricted well anyway with my topic
So, I watch these youtube vids of talking about “best free vpns” but all of those vpns are just PAYED vpns or a vpn with a hidden fee
Is there a thing as a legit free vpn? If so can you tell me one? I am getting really sick of digging through the web to find a legitimate “Free vpn” and no luck so far
Nah. A free VPN isn’t going to work for torrents or anything for that matter.
NordVPN is your best shot right now. They have this offer going on that makes it feel like it’s free. You get the best quality service at the cheapest price.
I can personally attest that Windscribe’s “free” service is real. Its testable in just the same ways any others can be tested. The only restrictions that separate it from their paid service are which endpoints you can connect to, and how much bandwidth you can use per month.
I’m currently a Windscribe paid subscriber (multiyear, paid in advance), but I was a “free” monthly leacher for 5+ years prior to upgrading to a paid subscription. I NEVER had an issue with their free service. I would test it for leaks periodically, and it always passed the tests.
That said, save your money and just pay for a good service. Dealing with monthly caps is frustrating. The monthly costs for many of them are completely reasonable.
They’re not good for torrenting, but some are good for other uses for a VPN. (Like hiding cookies so prices for airplane tickets don’t rise when you check them) If you’re willing to get a paid VPN, I’ve seen alot of people reccomend mullvad. It doesn’t keep logs on any user so nobody can get your info.
As others have said, if you just want to mask your location, yes. For example, the Opera browser has a built-in VPN. But if you want to torrent, then no. Certainly not any I would trust.
You can try https://vpnhouse.net/ - it is free product, which was created by developers and decided to open access to everyone. Code is opened and on the Github
Windscribe’s free plan allows torrenting, but you only get 10 gb a month. Proton VPN’s free plan used to allow torrenting, but they stopped it because it was clogging the servers and the primary focus is for people living in countries that heavily control access to the internet and information.
