Hulu is not available in your region, or you may be using a VPN

Today Hulu has started to give me “Hulu is not available in your region, or you may be using a VPN” message.

Device: ALL of them, TV with Amazon Fire TV stick, Samsung smart TV, Windows 11 PC with Chrome, Mac with macOS Monterey 12.5 and Chrome.

Service: Connection is via cable internet, Comcast Business, 353 Mbps down, 34 Mbps up.

Steps taken: On first TV, had cleared cache, rebooted Fire stick and TV, updated Fire stick. But then I discovered the error is with ALL devices except mobile phone. All other apps on Fire stick work fine. All other channels and apps on Samsung TV work fine.

FULL error: Hulu Error Code P-EDU101. Unique error ID: 05C54FA2-2E29-1F08-EAF8-63B2AA9D07E3.

If this was happening to me I would go to: https://whatismyip.live/ and get my IP address and then click the button to look up its location. Make sure it matches with the address on your account.

Call support. They should be able to help sort it out with you.

I had support on this afternoon. It’s a known issue and they gave me 5-day’s credit.

I’ve been dealing with the same error and no help whatsoever from my ISP or Hulu. They told me I’m running a VPN or I wouldn’t be getting the error and I am not… Nothing’s changed in the last week from when I started getting the error and it’s only Hulu. All my other streaming services work fine.

Same issue just started for me. I did online chat. Said my dynamic ip address changed unexpectedly. Rep had me go to ip chicken and give her the ip it came back with. She noted the ip and it began to work.

lol i JUST started getting this exact same thing

How do I get rid of it

Same deal here with a few differences (Roku, Windows 10, Visio TV, etc.). Not using VPN or from an outside country. Spent well over an hour with customer service only to have *them* disconnect the call! Called back and was denied speaking with a specialist/supervisor. Cancelled the account and even got a new debit card to avoid any possible charges…which took me all of 15min. Good riddance, Hulu.

I got this message and customer support was useless. I cancelled my subscription and resubscribed the next day. Now it’s fine.

Yeah hulu sucks time to move on :man_shrugging:

I had this problem today. was about to go squirrly, called daughter and she says…"First thing you alway try is to reset your gateway (internet connection) so I unplugged it, waited 30 seconds, plugged it back in. It took 3-5 minutes to restart and come on line…"HULU WAS BACK’. easy try, if might fix it. If not, you haven’t lost anything but 10 minutes. worth a shot.

I had the same thing. Using Roku over T-Mobile Home WiFi. Powered down T-Mobile router for 30 seconds. Hulu working again after restarting router.

If you call Hulu 877-824-4858, press 4, give them your IP address - Hulu will reset your location. This worked for me.

Error when starting Hulu: “Hulu is not available in your region or you may be using a VPN. Error Code P-EDU101.” Neither was true. We started receiving this message a couple of weeks ago and I worked on it today. I’m using Spectrum/Charter as an ISP and a recent TCL Roku TV with an Archer A7 router. Long story short, I reserved a DHCP address for the Roku TV, placed that IP in the DMZ, rebooted the router, and rebooted the TV. I started Hulu and was able to access the content. I then removed the IP from the DMZ and rebooted the router/TV. Hulu is still functioning. My IP address from Spectrum/Charter did not change during this process. Whatever switch that needed to be flipped happened once the Roku TV/Hulu was exposed in the DMZ. Now Hulu continues to function after being removed from the DMZ.

I went with approaching Hulu via their Chat session on their website, but I had to go TWICE to get the right rep to work with me. We did go through a few tests and checks, but I stuck to my guns and showed that ALL other services and devices work fine with other streaming and non-streaming applications and that Hulu was the ONLY one not working. The rep did more checking and stated to me that it was a KNOWN issue, and also credited me for 5 days off my bill. It came back after about 3 and a half days.

Yeah literally no one knows what any of that means

Yes this worked for me. Had the issue on my phone I simply put it on airplane mode then took it off.

Worked for me too! Really didnt wanna have to call hulu IT abt this. Ended up flipping airplane mode on and off and Hulu was back on for me!
