How "safe" 1.1.1.1 warp is?

I need something which can do:

  1. Hide my activities from public network
  2. Hide my IP from websites I browse
  3. Hide my activities from my ISP

Is Warp+ good for these purposes? Thanks!

I use this on my school network because it bypasses the schools dns - website blocks. It uses either warp (based on wireguard, TLS or HTTPS to connect to the cloudflare servers to perform dns requests. That is 1.1.1.1 app.

Warp (or warp+ on mobile which is paid, unlike pc) is the same as above, but it also routes your traffic through cloudflare. Not only dns requests but ALL traffic except sites that use cloudflare themselves. You’ll also get a cloudflare IP address like any other vpn. Keep in mind this IP address is almost in all cases in your own country, so you cannot geo bypass reductions on video content. IPv4 is based in your country and IPv6 is based in US. Yes, if you don’t already have ipv6 enabled or access to it, you’ll have access now!
About the IP on most sites; sites that use cloudflare will bypass the warp vpn and they’ll see your real ip. Sites that do not use cloudflare will see a CF IP (typically 8.x.x.x.)
For example, discord uses cloudflare so they can see your real ip. Reddit uses fastly, they’ll see a cloudflare ip. (This included torrenting!)

Personally I trust cloudflare and I have faith in this company.
The speeds and latency have almost no impact on real life browsing or streaming as it uses Anycast ips to connect to the closest CF server nearby which is almost always very close. Speed or latency or anything like that is an issue, however if you’d like, there is an option to see 'expected packet loss on PC!
Protip: if you don’t want to pay for warp+ on mobile, simply use the unlimited KEY generated on your computer on your phone and all bandwidth caps will be yoinked!

Have a nice day, hope this helps.

1.1.1.1 is a proxy and a DNS server. It hides your IP from websites you visit, and partially hides your activity from your ISP. It’s not encrypted however, what means there are still means to track what are you doing using it.

If you want these 3 at the same time, you can use a VPN. There are either paid and free ones, and tbh you should trust them equally. If you pay for a VPN it still might sell your data.

1: yes it uses a vpn to perform dns queries so it should be more secure?
2: only for sites that don’t use cloudflare
3: yes partly, read my other post

1.1.1.1 is a proxy and a DNS server

They have a new service called Warp+, I meant this one.

So I guess I can cling to the #1 only. 2 and 3 are risky.

Do you happen to know if Facebook and Google use cloudflare?

I just looked into that warp+. It’s a stripped version of a VPN. It encrypts data, but doesn’t hide your IP (websites see your approx location and can track you), and passes your data to cloudflare servers which use proprietary routing software.

My personal bs meter spikes!

No. All big tech companies have their own ASN.

Private internet access made a nice blogpost on how this isnt a vpn on all sites that use cloudflare, but it is a vpn for sites that don’t use cloudflare.
