I’m not a IT guy so i just know the basics, i do know a bit how a vpn works but idk if it can be tested or how it can be tested.
Do you guys wanna make sure it works before you use it? Or is it a matter of trust.
Turn off your VPN
Go To https://whatismyipaddress.com/ this will show you the IP address you are connecting from
Turn on your VPN
Reload https://whatismyipaddress.com/
If it is different then your VPN is working, if it is the same then your VPN is not working
For what is worth you can usually just search “what is my IP address” in your favorite search engine and it will show you the IP address you are connecting from

Everything people already mentioned is pretty good and the right way to go. My most common reminder that mine’s working tends to be all the VPN ads on pirate sites getting my IP and location wrong

What VPN did you get? Also if you want to reliably torrent with a VPN then bind your VPN to your torrent client. If you are using qbittorrent then you can follow this guide to do that.
I mean, I always just google “What is my ip” and then carry on.
You can just enter to youtube in incognito mode and eveything you’ll see is content made for the country you selected.

Thanks for this comment. I just did this test. I have surfshark. With surfshark off it gives me my IP (obv) but when I connected to France and tested again it’s still showing my actual IP. What does this mean?
Maybe, but if you have a dynamic IP address, it could be someone else, as well
Good guide although I don’t know how seriously qbtorrent takes their users privacy. This bug was open for well over a year and they simply ignored it as if IP leaks aren’t a big issue when it comes to torrenting.
Could it be because Google is not routed through VPN in settings? Should I just route everything through VPN? Can’t believe I missed this
