Hi, I would like to ask about the differences between Global VPN and SSL VPN of SonicWall
GVPN uses “traditional” VPN protocols.
SSLVPN uses HTTPS (SSL) protocols so is generally more compatible with whatever network the remote user is on.
It’s arguably more secure as you don’t have to expose VPN ports on your FW, but that’s tenuous I guess.
I believe SSLVPN has a bit more overhead but is the method more actively supported by SonicWall.
SSL vpn have MFA option
GVC use traditional vpn ports
GVC does not have MFA only first time it is asked for preshared key
If you used the Microsoft NPS server you have MFA options
GVC prompts for a 2fa code “From your bind app”. It has for a while now.
This is using a RADIUS 2FA solution though right?
I moved to SVL VPN just for the native MFA but I genuinely hate it. I would do anything to move back to GVC lol
Negative. Just “local users”.
No way… well I have it configured for local users on my end but the “From your bind app” only pops on SSL VPN and not GVC…
