Do you guys think purevpn is now a safe option for online privacy?

I sincerely care about online privacy due to my country’s censorship and their ability to spot me by my ip address and I think my country might be looking at my online activity so I really demand a safe VPN. Been using express, nord, surfshark.

Pure VPN is a audited vpn so should be fine

Express VPN is built on whitelabel PureVPN infrastructure - if that helps.

it seems better than Ivacy

Purevpn’s tools and apps are all closed source. If privacy is important, why would you trust a VPN app that you cannot evaluate? Go with a provider that is willing to put their source code on github.

You need to know:

  1. No-Log statement (2017-FBI-Lin)
  2. Lifetime PureVPN

I highly recommend you do not use purevpn

I have Pure VPN since 5 years.Had the 5 years plan at 2 Euro Month.
It is very…very…very slow !!!
From 100 Mbs…I get around 65-70 mbs…
With VPN inside the Router…I get around 30 mbs…
Its a NO renewal for Me !

Why do you say now? Has anything changed that I’m not aware?

Lolz, is all I can say on this matter.

They just purchased Ivacy and will port Ivacy accounts over. Ivacy no longer exists.

u/eric0e Open Source is a different story, as most of the provider share source code of their client-side application or a few client-related features, etc. No one open their VPN infrastructure side configs with for public. They only share their config and infrastructure access to third-party auditing companies.

PureVPN’s audits by reputable firms confirm its safety and status as a No-Log service provider, making it reliable from a privacy standpoint.

They use OpenVPN and WireGuard protocols if you want to use them… What’s the problem with that?

why not? only asking since my router only supports purevpn lol.

Pure pays to audit servers, but I have never seen any audit report of their client apps. As their client apps have direct access to all the data on your device (PC, phone, tablet, …) and can possibly have data-sending Trojans, that use alternative servers.

There are VPN providers that have put their apps source code online. If privacy is your major concern, use apps that are open source, from companies that have audits done of their servers.

Most people just use the app, which is closed source and I have never seen an independent audit on it. On Wireguard, their keys only has a short life, and then you need to get a new one, which keeps almost everyone from using Wireguard without the app.

Pure really could do much better. Other VPN provider are just better.

You may be right in some instances, but according to my experience, most providers who have proprietary solutions will not open the source code for everyone. Especially a cybersecurity company. They may open some particular features for the public.

Such cybersecurity companies run paid bug bounty programs for security and privacy audits with a close group to improve their security posture.

I have gone through various organizations’ auditing activities, in such cases auditing firms perform end-to-end audits from client apps to endpoints.

As consumers of these product, we need to rely on third-party auditing reports.

I gotta admit, I do have the length of their WireGuard keys given that it’s so much better than OpenVPN.
Thankfully for me though, since the server I use it on has a UPS, and my internet is pretty stable, my VPN connection on it stays up for months
