CyberGhost VPN and download limits

Hello fellow Soulseekers,

I have been using this program for a few years but am just now able to start giving back. I have a nice little collection of files but over the last month seem to be getting abused. I currently have shared around 3TB worth of transfers via my traffic meter. I am worried that my new 5TB of data this month might raise alarms to my ISP. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Traffic meter (month: 1-31)
3,836,260 (upload) / 2,895,860(download)

Secondly, I just bought cyberghost VPN and want to confirm that this will work with the platform before I start using it. I can connect via my PC to other users and my test PC at another location works to that computer. Do I need to look at anything else.

Thanks and happy sharing.

Just limit your speed and slots

If you have a data cap then your ISP might be concerned. If you have no data cap, or pay extra for unlimited than they should not be too upset. 5TB isn’t outrageous. I do about 2TB a month (which I pay $30 month for unlimited).

But if they can see where you are downloading from then they can be obligated to send you warnings (like if they know you are downloading torrents). But if you hide everything behind a VPN, then you have removed them from any obligation to warn you for unlawful content.

There are 2 reasons they would warn you. Abusing their bandwidth and abusing other people’s content. You can pay to abuse their bandwidth and you can hide your content.

And as mentioned, check that your prospective VPN supports port forwarding.

Check that the vpn supports port forwarding

I do suggest finding out how much your average user uses per month. Yes, your ISP can cut you off if they think you are overly active.

IMHO 5tb a month does sound like a lot.

much appreciated bro, decent learn alot more
