Wanted to pop back in and say that the problem hasn’t happened again since I uninstalled Auto Quality so thank you again!

I believe this is the culprit. I had the same symptoms and started with a clean Chrome profile, adding my extensions back one at a time over a few days. The issue reoccurred when I added this one back. I think it’s basically malware. Go to the Extension store and read the reviews.
Oh man, thank you. The second I noticed my third linksprf tab I went paranoid and uninstalled a bunch of extensions. Auto Quality for YouTube was one of them. Good to know for sure that I got rid of the source.
i don’t have it, i have “Return youtube dislike”, “Steamdb”, “Adblock”, “Super Dark Mode”, “Troywell VPN”. I’ll try to uninstall each of them and see
Hmm, I have this issue but never had that extension…
WOW how shitty are they. fist lead people into thinking its safe, then mass show/use referral ads/links on every site
It’s super dark mode, happens to me too and mentioned in a review:
Dark Reader might be a good replacement. I’ve been using that one for a while now and don’t recall any issues.
I removed the Auto Quality extension for YouTube to see if that fixes my issue but if it doesn’t then I’ll see if Dark Reader has the same issue as Super Dark Mode (hopefully not).
I had the same issue. Removing the Super Dark mode extension fixed it for me as well, thanks! I was scared for a second, thinking i got some weird malware on my system…
Just a quick update: haven’t noticed the issue since I uninstalled Auto Quality. I still have Dark Reader installed so it should be safe.
