Bimonthly VPN recommendations megathread: the only place for mentioning specific providers

Since we get a lot of asking for VPN provider recommendations, we’re making this megathread a bimonthly occurrence (you’ll find the newest one at the top subreddit menu). It’s a chance for you to ask for or recommend your favorite provider.

When recommending a provider, you must mention at least a couple points for why you prefer it. Don’t just list VPN features that are common knowledge - explain why you chose it. Comments simply mentioning a provider’s name aren’t allowed. No affiliate links, links to review sites, or VPN provider websites. No shilling either.

You might also want to check out our comparison table. We update it regularly so you could find a provider that ticks all your boxes. There’s also a pinned special deals thread for when you decide.

Keep in mind this megathread will still be looked after by the mods.

Any VPN providers which support OpenVPN DCO yet? (looks like it requires 2.6 and a kernel module)

I have been using Windscribe for gaming (to bypass routing issues with my ISP) the last few weeks, it is fast on IKEv2 but slow on Wireguard. However IKEv2 tends to drop every now and then which is unacceptable.

I like that it is very cheap as I just pay for the two server locations I want at 3 USD per month.

Are there other VPNs that include a Singapore server with a similar pricing scheme? The major VPNs all need 2 year subscriptions for a better price, otherwise it is about 15 USD monthly.

Anyone use ProtonVPN, and if so, are you willing to give a short review?

Currently using a provider near the bottom of the comparison table, and thinking about changing

What is the best VPN for torrent downloading? I’m from latin america, I’m new in this.

What is the best vpn in terms of Adblock performance ?

I need a VPN service that allows me to forward more than one port with both TCP/UDP.

I need at least two ports, each with both TCP/UDP, but I can find any VPN service that suits me.

What is the best VPN for throttled internet? I use T-Mobile 5G and suspect that I’m being throttled toward the end of our billing cycle. Any recommendation for free VPNs or Cheap VPNs to prevent throttling?

Any VPNs that support IKEv2 and provide a residential United States IP? Dedicated IP is preferred but not absolutely necessary.

Hi all, I am looking for a VPN in UK that offers:
- Standard connectivity out-of-app using OpenVPN or Wireguard configurations (I would like to connect to it using my FreeBSD router/firewall to NAT my whole local LAN through it)
- A dedicated IP with full Port Forwarding (not just one port, I’d like ports 1-65535 TCP/UDP to be forwarded to my router/firewall) and preferably no firewall, or that allows me to act as DMZ host
- An untainted record of no-log policy

I looked carefully into various offers from the available VPN providers, but I can’t find one with these characteristics. They either offer only 1-port limited port forward, or they don’t offer it on the dedicated ip, or they can’t be used outside of the custom Windows app…

Does anyone know a VPN provider with good UK servers to suggest ?

Any free VPN recommendations that’ll allow me to change my country to japan

Hi everyone I’m searching a free vpn for ipad with Costa Rica server. I use one in my samsung but there is no avaiable for ios and I can’t find one that work :frowning:

Does anyone know of a VPN that is compatible with regular Facebook use?
So far, I’ve used one very popular VPN with Facebook, but that has gotten my account deactivated.

The choice of not using a VPN isn’t available to me unfortunately.

I’m also located in India, so the VPN would have to have Indian IP addresses available.

From what I understand, Facebook recognises IP addresses that belong to VPN service providers, so even decentralised VPNs belonging to popular VPN service providers are likely o be recognised.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to create multiple accounts on platforms like Vinted and Vestiaire Collective without being detected or linked to my original IP address. What VPN do you recommend for maintaining anonymity and security on these sites?

Any tips on features to look for in a VPN for this purpose would also be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to run with OpenVPN they have Access Server if you have your own server, or CloudConnexa if you want one hosted. Best to go with the official source for the best compatibility with DCO, IMHO.

Mullvad has 5 servers in Singapore that support WireGuard and 2 servers that support OpenVPN.

Pricing for Mullvad is €5 per month.

Is Cloudflare Warp also throttled by your ISP? I don’t see any mainstream providers that offer cheaper monthly sub. If you’re willing to self-host, Gullo has SG servers for $5 a year, Oracle Cloud free tier might be doable if you’re feeling lucky (registration is fragile but afterward you’ll be fine).

But you should mention too that they are one of the most expensive VPN services.
