Best VPNs for Use in China?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to China soon and I’m looking for recommendations on the best VPNs to use while I’m there. I’ve heard that some VPNs are blocked or not very reliable in China, so I’d appreciate any suggestions or experiences you can share. Thanks in advance!

If you use eSIM from like Airalo, no VPN is needed. If you need to use Chinese local sim or WiFi, and don’t worry too much about security then LetsVPN. Other VPN services probably are hit and miss.

Astrill is very reliable

The most reliable option, if you have the expertise (or know someone who does), is a DIY VPN. (I.e. pay for your own server and set up a VPN service on it for just yourself.)

A lot of foreign corporations require encryption to access anything on their network (email, intranet, etc.), so I suspect that the more your VPN seems to be just some corporation’s thing, the less likely it will get blocked. (Apparently the CCP doesn’t want to block lucritive business.)

The second best is to find the ones (usually smaller janky fly-by-night services) that haven’t been banned (yet).

Catpro, it’s cheap and stable. But be sure to have everything set up before heading to China

Aox vpn or Veee+ vpn are usable aox have free version no meed to pay but speed is slow however still usable.

老习VPN, it’s provided by the government for foreign visitors’ use

Second. Set one up yourself. It is quite easy… Openvpn has a quite easy to use self-installation mechanism

Does it support online streaming?

Yes, I’ve used it to watch YouTube on a daily basis for about a month or so.
