I use the antivirus, and the VPN is included in my subscription. So I’m considering using it for occasional torrenting rather than alternatives. Does anybody have information regarding it? Like whether the VPN is trustworthy and secure?
Also, not interested in comments saying “don’t use it because Russian company”. I don’t care about baseless theories.
Thank you!
Dont use anything made by that company, and you dont need any anti virus program in 2023. Its more likely an anti virus program fucks with your machine than it does catch something over defender.
Kaspersky VPN is a reskinned version of the Hotspot Shield Premium VPN. They aren’t the best when it comes to data collection but for torrenting it should be fine. Download speed is decent. But they don’t support port forwarding.
Imagine installing russian honeypot in 2023
it’s more a snitch than a VPN. I don’t recommand.
And it’s detectable by a lot of streaming website which means Kaspersky is cooperating with them and give them your real IP.
Let’s be clear here tho. I am a huge supporter or Ukraine.
With that being said Kaspersky is and wss created by an individual. A non government individual. An individual who is great at what he did and own and operates a great product. The problem is NOT kaspersky but the governments dictatorships and power over all that uses kaspersky (since it is located in Russia) to abuse. However Eugeine is getting away from Russia more and more with an ultimate aim for Switzerland. Lets not put the blame on Kaspersky. Let’s put the blame on Russia. Without Russia Kaspersky is a great product. Idk about their VPN though
Why not? Their AV tops the chart every year, prices are decent AND you get even VPN with that. Sure, their VPN is probably not as privacy focused like Mullvad, but for circumventing geo-blocking etc it’s more than good enough.
If you want to do shady stuff then you should probably invest in Mullvad or any other VPN provider that has a proven track record with their no-log policy.
No offense but that’s a really bad take, do some research dude.
Thank you! Exactly the info I was looking for lol. Though, if you don’t mind me asking, where’s that info from (the fact that it’s a hotspot shield reskin)?
Again, I don’t give a fuck about your opinion on that. Show me some evidence maybe?
Alright, thank you! I think I’ll use it for my occasional torrenting without spending on a new VPN.
go shill elsewhere, and maybe not 30 days later
Right back at you, boomer
That info is available on the web but it’s kind of hard to find. Here’s an article that states the connection between Kaspersky and Hotspot Shield…. https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/kaspersky-secure-connection-vpn.
It’s also evident if you look at their apps and server lists.
They were banned on all US government systems years ago. Like everything in Russia, there is no actual “private ownership”. If it’s something that interests the FSB, they take control and gain access to the systems. In Kaspersky’s case, despite his endless denials - it has been clear that FSB and SVR have long had access to everything on customer systems.
Russia’s intelligence services work quite openly with hacker organizations that target their political and economic opponents. For years, they’ve allowed cyber threat operations against foreign governments through these groups.
Just for the fun of it, if you get bored - set up wireshark’s command line to capture anything going to Russia and see how many of your queries get directed there.
Up voted xD ur so right dont listen to them they arent really seeing the good side of kaspersky lmfao good luck to them if they get infected by a ransomware to roll back every damages
Can you tell me please what was the solution he gave its deleted now
Something I’ve already done.
Thank you so much, very helpful!
