Seems they don’t have a current community so posting PSA here. Just found that the latest version of the ZoogVPN client, at least the Windows version (have not tested other platforms) has a “kill switch” that doesn’t actually work.
I have emailed them and tried chatting and posted in other places, and got no responses…nada. So posting on Reddit to get a wider audience and hopefully goad them into action.
When the client launches, if you have the kill switch already enabled, it properly cuts the network. But after that, if you try to connect to a server and it fails, or if it connects and then fails sometime later, or if you even purposefully disconnect, the client then ignores the kill switch and immediately reconnects to your normal network, thus leaking your activity. The config screen still shows kill switch enabled also. This is bad if you leave torrents to seed overnight… And yes, several ISP b*tch notes follow a day later.
It seems like a straight forward bug that they could easily fix. I only use this because years ago got a killer deal: lifetime subscription for like $40 and they have a reasonable number of global servers and are reasonably fast and passed all of the leak tests I ran.
