Which protocol should I choose?

Which protocol should I choose ?

If it works for you, leave it to Smart (it will autodetect the best possible choice)

There are times wireguard don’t load sites and I’ve gotta switch to stealth and they work again, makes no sense to me. Usually auto works fine, but the times it don’t I change to stealth.

Use Wireguard for fastest speeds, Wireguard TCP/Stealth to help access networks that may block VPNs, and OpenVPN tcp/udp which is the best for connecting on restrictive networks (way slower than wireguard).

Just keep it on smart, it will choose the best one for you. For me personally, I keep it on stealth because my work actively blocks VPNs and so far stealth is the only way to connect to it.

Stealth’s the way to go, never had Issues with it on long Term, here and there, but not really often I switch for a few minutes to wireguard BUT IT’S not worth to mention it!

Strange, I don’t seem to have Stealth as an option - only Smart, Wireguard, OpenVPN (UDP) and OpenVPN (TCP). The client is up to date - any idea why I’d be missing that option?

For me wireguard is the best

Me as a proton VPN user , I would like to strongly recommend the proton developers to have the same option to choose our connection protocol in the proton VPN app in Linux. I think the most used by Linux users.

Where can I change this ?

Stealth, cuz it’s only protocol works on my ISP

Which one drains the least battery?

Just ran into this, was on a public WiFi that was blocking my VPN. Wireguard TCP and stealth worked on it. Do you have any idea why these protocols can bypass the block?

same for me. It seems the smart doesn’t choose stealth no matter what.

I’ve put mine on WireGuard TCP and it’s able to get through the work Wi-Fi block.

What platform are you on?

Just use the CLI like a real Linux chad

Yeah I noticed this issue too, pretty annoying.

Then the reason is that Stealth isn’t out yet on Windows.

Gotcha, thx. Damn Windows.
