Hi, I’m struggling to understand the concept of VPN Protocol(s)

Which one do I pick? Which one is the best? What do they each do?

Please assist me in this matter. Thanks in advance

I cant for the life of me tell you the difference between udp and tcp, but nordlynx is much faster than either of the openvpn ones

The difference between UDP and TCP connection protocols besides that they encrypt information differently (equally safe) is that UDP generally provides better speed, but has a higher risk of instability, where’s TCP offers a more stable connection, but may reduce speeds. Meaning that if you were to have network issues - choose TCP protocol for stability and leave it on UDP if you don’t.

In regards to NordLynx it’s a new protocol that offers best speed by far and is stable thus being best protocol, but it is still new and being worked on. Meaning that for some devices or networks it may simply not work, which is a very rare case, but still possible and a small amount of websites may not work as well, which I haven’t encountered myself, but in theory it could happen so.

All in all - use NordLynx if it proceeds to function for your device and alternatively use UDP if it doesn’t or TCP if your network tends to be unstable occasionally.

Other people already worte it but nord lynx is the best one (if it works) but udp and tcp have some more option like obfuscated servers or torrenting servers which are currently unavailable for nord lynx

Use the one that works best for you. Don’t worry about what anyone else uses.

Afaik its stability vs speed but the faster one is less consistent

Same question, i need to use with adguard pro and only ikev2 can be compatible.
