Renewal now over $200 AUD… is this the going rate for a service of their level?

Most vpn roughly cost 30-70 for 2 or 3 years.
Anything more isn’t the" normal" price specially for nord or kape vpn.
There’s also more pricey ones like Mullvad , ivpn , perfect privacy and proton.
Just make a new account and or fesub with a deal if you want to keep nord , just cancel before.
It’s one of the scammy tactics of some vpn to double or even 3x or 4x the price after the initial purchase.
That is around $130 US, if it is for three years it is not too bad, you can find providers a little cheaper like SurfShark but not by far.
Watch OzBargain for 95 to 105% cashback offers. They pop up every couple of weeks. Will need a cashback account with who ever they use next
Yeah, I noticed antivirus companies love that tactic of upping the cost to continue…
$30 for three years, that is like $10 a year, there aren´t any serious VPN provider at that price and at $70 I only know of PIA.
Bro surfshark is the same company as nordvpn
or rakuten or topcashback. i bought nordvpn/surshark/mozilla vpn/pia totally for free or even they pay me.
i do pay proton/mullvad myself.

Nord x surf , Pia , cyber ghost and more often have sales like 1 or 4 times a month for 50~ for 2+4 months often.
If you consider cashback deals they often on top give you 80-120% back which effectively makes them 10 euro for 2 years up to them 0- them paying you 5-20 euro for buying them.
So for kape / nord group vpn the real price for 2 - 3 years is somewhere between them paying you to use them and 50 per year.
For example surfshark they run like allways 50-70% cashback on top of the sale price and every 1 or 2 months 90-110%
