Using a VPN

Hey, I got a question that I couldnt find on this sub so far (maybe I just searched wrong).

What if, hypothetically, someone tried to use a vpn to broaden their selection of movies/series on prime video? Would this location change, which is happening for the entire amazon account, affect the vine membership in a negative way?

Currently I’m too cautious to risk it, but it would be nice hearing if someone got some experience with it. Would hate to lose my membership just for trying to watch some series/movie thats not available here.

Note that I am not trying to see the vine page of any other country, I couldnt order there anyways, this is just about prime video

Don’t see why it would matter for Vine in particular. You can use your Vine account from anywhere anyway.

Amazon Prime video is another matter. They apparently have a VPN block for that, and they might be able to figure it out if they care enough. I don’t know what they’d do about it besides block streaming for your account, but I don’t know if they even do that. Best to ask at a Prime or streaming forum about that.

Given how low tech the Vine site is I doubt it would even know. I happen to have a VPN on sometimes, though just between states, and it hasn’t cared yet.

You can’t use a vpn on Amazon Prime. Netflix is the only streaming service that works with a vpn. Prime, Hulu, and Disney+ all know you’re using a vpn and say “hey you can’t watch anything with that vpn on, pal” if you try.

I wasn’t in Vine last time I accidentally went on prime with the vpn on. I don’t know about using it with vine. Sometimes companies don’t care about that kind of thing, sometimes they see it as you trying to game the system and will ban you. I would think there would be an issue with using a vpn to pretend you’re, say, in Germany when you’re really in the US - you MIGHT get German products advertised to you, but with a US address, would any of them actually ship to you?

But yeah you can’t use a vpn with Prime Video anyway. At least none of the ones I’ve tried.

I use a vpn sometimes and sometimes not. I didn’t know IP affects listings.

I do lots of things on VPN, and always ran into a problem browsing Amazon in general, including Vine when I was on the VPN.

my computer at work is connected with out a vpn, my computer at home IS connected through a vpn. I’ve never had issues with most sites, Vine included. A few sites keep trying to connect me to their canadian site (or whatever country the vpn is connected) but never any issue with vine.

My vine page looks the same whether my VPN is on or off, as long as I go to the bookmarked link. If I let my browser go to amazon.ca instead of amazon.com I’d expect lots of weirdness.

What are you their marketing team?

literally had nothing to do with the post, bot ass comment

Oh, thats interesting. I hadnt tried prime video yet for the reason above, but Disney+ works fine for me. I just get a popup saying “You seem to be watching from some other place, the video selection may be different” or something like that.

Wrong. I’m having no problem using my vpn with prime video

Depends. I can effectively use vpn on Hulu and Disney. There are still ways to get around it. I watch a lot of Disney+ Korea shows that’s why I need it.

I can and do use a VPN on Prime Video all the time, but as soon as I switch to a different country besides US for my VPN, it partially blocks me from most movies/tv shows, and thinks I’m “traveling abroad”

But as far as it effecting Vine, no, it doesn’t. I use Nord VPN, btw.

Feels that way due to the user you responded to likes to edit their comments to add a hyperlink that goes to a post they made or a post another user made (they are possibly the same person due to their account and the second account whose post they are promoting were made three days apart in March this year), which is something they are doing to promote a specific company/product. They have been caught by the site-wide spam filter, which means they have broken the site-wide rules involving spam.

You were misinformed. I’m using a vpn just fine on prime video

what’s the name of the vpn

Depends on what you’re trying to watch. I’m trying to watch NFL football right now and it says no you are on a vpn

I also use it for Korea, mostly because I want to watch stuff with korean dub and there apparently isn’t any other way to get a hold of anything with kr dub even if you’re willing to pay for it

Which vpn do you use? Use urban vpn and it doesn’t work for both prime video and rakuten viki
