The deal with free VPNs

I have always wondered what people make out of free VPNs. I always thought that you could use them for general stuff. For example: using public Wi-Fi, accessing different countries’ Netflix library etc.

I have never torrented in my life but use a free VPN (UrbanVPN) for the reasons above.

Why do people hate free VPNs so much?

Theres a saying

'Nothing is really free without a cost.

You’re the product, plain and simple.

If Im using a vpn Im paying.

Im not doing nothing bad that I need to hide but nobody should give a care what I plan to purchuse, if Im having Diarrhea, or if Im looking for an apartment.

Thats why I pay for a vpn and dont even think it twice.

Any pro who knows of a vpn that can auto open the vpn once you open an app. (Windows) 10

they use user’s data. I think the better to use normal paid vpn. Moreover you can buy it cheaper that you think. I bought 5 years VeePN only for $50

Basically yeah, they steal user data and most people aren’t happy with that. I think one injects ads into your browser, so you get ads you can’t disable. Some lie about the shit they protect you against, though that’s most VPNs nowadays. Free VPNs usually block p2p connections, so no torrenting on those. Most have weak encryption. There was one that basically made you a botnet (Hola VPN). That also allowed the client to run code you don’t want on your machine, so basically it can install malware if it wants to. And lastly, a free VPN probably doesn’t have tons of servers out there, so that means if a lot of people use that free VPN, there’s bound to be people who abuse it and thus using that VPN means you will run into trouble of accounts being banned from posting on forums, due to the IP of the VPN being banned, and also the VPN in general being detected and geoblocked, so that means no Netflix and stuff, since the VPN has already been detected and blocked ages ago. Paid VPNs usually swap servers, so you can try a different server, if the one you were on was blocked.

To me the risks aren’t worth it, and a paid one is way better than a risky free one.

Torguard just introduced Wireguard. Getting awesome speeds ~3Gbit/s

They have 1 month for free and 50% off with the promo wireguard50off to celebrate introducing Wireguard

Bro, urban vpn is a P2P vpn ( Peer-to-Peer )… /What that means? Well, once you’ve connected, your traffic is routed through other users, and some of their traffic will be routed through yours, is basically an user powered vpn. / And why is that a bad thing? Because ur ip will be used by many other people, some will use it for stuff like torrenting child pornography for example… / Do you really want your ip to be related to some stuff like that?

Soo this is basically the worst type of vpn you can choose…

If you want a free vpn, better try:

ProtonVPN (unlimited data/ but only 3 country on free and no torrenting allowed…)

Windscribe (free 10GB/mo + 5GB for a tweet)

Hide.me (free 10gb/mo)

TouchVPN (Full free! /Logs everything you do and sell your data to ads company to make money, soo is not good for torrenting, but is still decent for normal use like unblocking/streaming.) /“UrbanVPN also logs evrything and sells data!” - and P2P on top of that… /At least this one is not p2p…

The cost is your browsing data?

I used the VPN to destroy the VPN

I know who I am! I’m a dude, playing the dude, disguised as another dude!

I forgot, this is -50% discount - OFF51

Great points!!! You mentioned all the pro’s and con’s of a paid VPN versus a free VPN. I been paying since day one. Better safe than sorry.

Well, like touch vpn, urban vpn is perfectly fine for so called “normal browsing” like unblocking school wifi.
