Just a pubic service announcement, friends, that the SRT VPN will capture everything that you search while you are connected. It will not spy directly on your machine, as that would be unlawful, however, every site you travel to will be recorded and assessed.
I haven’t been able to login and get it working, keeps giving me an error
The Vpn isn’t mandatory until the 18th. It’s pretty awful because it locks down sites you need for research, making working much harder, because you need to use a separate device for research. It also locked down my spotify and made it no longer usable lol.
I’m not using it until they make us use it.
I did the VPN training and download, but every time I try to open SRT through the VPN’s portal, the site has basic text links, and my tasks won’t load.
It also only allows you to access sites they have whitelisted. For instance QuillBot (grammarly alternative) isn’t accessible. ESPN isn’t accesible. You can google, but not all of the links will work (depending on what they whitelist). Didn’t try ChatGPT, but I can only assume that one can’t be accessed.
Can you work from abroad with this new vpn?
Sorry for my ignorance, what does SRT stand for and what does it do exactly, how does it work?
Is there anything, besides expenses, that would rule out having separate devices for separate projects? I am a noob, at the very start of this adventure, so please forgive me if this is a redundant question. So much of what I’ve read concerning VPNs says no to their use, that it is grounds for dismissal, for many of the online jobs. Would it matter to this platform([?] not even sure what this really is) if your IP is on other sites as long as their is a dedicated, compliant device to their’s?
Sorry if this is a frequently asked question, but as I said, I am very new at this, as in starting my 3rd week of research. There is such a wide variety of jobs, types of jobs, companies, etc., that I have already filled one notebook and started another concerning what I want to do, can do, where to do it and how to do it once I get there. And this may be an important question/answer for me a week or two from now. I sure appreciate it and thank you much.
I’m usually such a multitasker (ADHD?) that I balance work and playing music on YouTube, checking news/Reddit between tasks, etc… Been thinking since it was announced that this will take some getting used to, and I’m sure I’ll accidentally leave it on at some point.
did you have the download link in your training? I couldn’t download the VPN
Well, I clicked the begin mirror tasks in Vpn directions after downloading, and it took me to outlier begin tasking page, but when I submitted the task, it didn’t show up in my tasks completed. Looks like the outlier URL is slightly different. I’ve contacted support as the task shows submitted in SRT, which I screenshot. This is such a pain to jump through so many hoops. The time spent on this bs reduces the hourly rate substantially!!
i kept receiving an error. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed it a few times. same error message.
403. That’s an error.
Error: app_not_configured_for_user
Service is not configured for this user.
I have two other jobs and a separate chrome profile for each. And a personal profile. I never close them, just drop whatever I’m not using down to the task bar as it makes life much easier not having to open everything up, log in etc.
Do you happen to know if I need to start closing all these so it doesn’t think I’m working for someone else if there’s, eg. a website CMS page open in another window?
how can i get the link to download the VPN???
The VPN is pretty bad, your grammar checker doesn’t work.
I haven’t been able to log into SRT. It keeps says the account is full . What can I do ?
Same, maybe the site is down idk
See, stuff like this makes me worry that I’m using it wrong and will get dinged somehow because it doesn’t seem to do anything to my computer. It’s just kinda there…
This is happening to me. Did you end up finding a fix? I’ve just been working in a different browser since the queues will not load in the VPN portal.
Any answer to this guys???
