Im makeing this PSA for the purpose of letting everyone know that TunnelBear is a piece of crap. I tried to use it yesterday to acces spotify and not only did it not work, but it also did something that prevented me from accessing Steam, Teamspeak, and various other programs even AFTER its uninstal. So dont use it, I had to do a system restore to get my PC back.
TunnelBear routes all traffic to 127.0.0.1 via Socks5 proxy, then to the TunelBear servers (so-called “perfect” forward security, mainly, your request never touches the open internet until it’s sent by the TunnelBear servers). If you improperly installed or removed it, or removed it then never restarted your computer, then your internet would not work.
It has nothing to do with the TunnelBear service.
Shit post is shit. Improper use by inexperienced user.
Instead of doing a PSA telling people to never use a product… how about you just make a techsupport asking why it did what it did… I’ve had issues with VPN’s that prevented me from using apps and my own internet entirely and in the end it was always user error…
What did the Tunnel bear support team say when you emailed them on your problem?
it couldn’t possibly be you screwed something up?
I use TunnelBear for Spotify and it works fine for me even after I turn it off. Steam works fine for me. Quite sure you messed up somewhere.
I’m still going to use tunnelbear. As I’m certain this is user error.
Also, their customer service is absolute shit. Been there and said fuck that. Updoot for the warning to the others
I dont know how you could improperly install it, the process of installing it is pretty simple, same for removing it. And I have restarted my PC both after instalation and removing.
Im telling people not to use a broken product, whats wrong with that? Last I checked I was not hired as their QA to point out their errors.
I dont think so. Last night I tried tunnelbear, it didnt let me on any websites except for a slow loading facebook and youtube. I turned it off and suddenly my websites worked, but I couldnt log into steam or teamspeak or any games for that matter. I uninstalled it and still I couldnt connect. This morning I did a system restore and voila it works like a charm. I dont know what Tunnel Bear did, but it done fucked up my internet
i just ran into this issue and tried this, it worked, however, everytime I enable tunnelbear i have to do change my firewall settings, any ideas?
This might be an old thread, but anyway I got the same problem, which turned out to be as you said. After further investigation, there’s an option in Tunnelbear called Vigilant which causes this problem. The main function of it is closing off the firewall until Tunnelbear secures the connection but it’s bugged because it doesnt turn your firewall on again. Turning off this feature solved everything for me.
There are quite literally tens of answers to that question. Antivirus, Windows policy violations, Windows Firewall, network issues, adapter issues…the list quite literally goes on.
Windows is not a perfect operating system. You can easily fuck up anything, et al;
If you make something idiot proof, someone will just make a better idiot.
yeah but… what if its not broken… Something on your end fucked up. plain and simple. Theres alot of factors that go into this stuff, and if google sometimes freezes you don’t say “NOBODY USE GOOGLE!” you go tell google the problem and find a solution…
