Hello, after trying various VPN’s on my school wifi including x - vpn, hotspot shield, avast’s vpn, windscribe, proton vpn, etc. ONLY one worked from the microsoft store, which is Planet VPN. I was very happy as I could finally use a vpn on my school’s wifi, I looked at reviews and some reviews said that it takes ur data and someone got compromised and its made by russians, steals data, etc. other reviews are fine. there arent many written reviews so i cant tell. PLEASE HELP. Although, It did ask me a few times to run as administrator etc. On google, if i look up the reviews are fine, but i am really worried. i do not want to be compromised.

Look at my other post and comment on how to bypass school firewalls. If you had tried Proton, they I suppose that openvpn won’t work. You will want to set up your own vpn with witeguard with websocket connection or xray proxy with reality protocol. if it is free it is probally stealing your data.
you could just run your own vpn… then the ip wouldn’t be blocked, you can put pfsense on literally anything then run OpenVPN with pfsense’s built in OpenVPN server. You could also just use tor, just download it on your computer or phone beforehand. There are also browser level vpns, which only function at a browser level. If you really want to you can turn your laptop into its own router, just manually set up the DNS and use the AP as a gateway for your new firewall. If you use DNSSEC with something like quad9 and everything goes through https then your school wouldn’t know what you are doing anyway for the most part. it kinda depends on what type of blocking they have. Or you could just not break the school Eula…

There is no logs stored in the company they located in Romania for this reason, I know them personally, in Romania there is law that give free option for companies to decide if keep or not the logs.

Yeh planet VPN is bad there currently stealing my data bank Emails ect im a U.S. soldier trying too get my accounts restored. They spent 5.00 yesterday.
I will make sure not to use it. Just got a registration link (I didn’t even registered, not even knew about this VPN) so clearly they buy from black market emails and register users to get more people. So f**k them.

Commercial VPN on Windows are usually implemented as a virtual network interface, so they have driver-level permission. With that permission in theory they can do anything.
Proton stealth protocol or Windscribe stealth/wstunnel didn’t work? It should.
