Would not pay for something that does not work properly - can’t open pages I can open no problem with Chrome. What am I protecting if I can’t open it in the first place?
Ask me when you fix it.
who tf pays for a browser
Psssst, for anyone wondering.
The scam is to pay $10 a month. You’ll lose more money with that option.
$10 x12 months = $120.00
VS
$100 for 1 year (aka 12 months)
you’ll be saving yourself $20 by just going with this option.
Payment is handled through Stripe from what I can see. Here is a about page that might answer your curiosity more then I can: https://duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/privacy-pro/
I think it was rolling out yesterday, should be available everywhere now. And they have a support email [email protected]
Open the DuckDuckGo browser and in the menu to go to settings Privacy Pro shows up, you can also go to DuckDuckGo Privacy Pro on the browser and it’ll take you to the same place
Why do you need to hide previous URLs? Are you looking at illegal shit or porn that you don’t want your mom to see?
I wanted to know this too but it looks like it only works in the mobile DuckDuckGo Browser app?
How does DuckDuckGo VPN work?
Enabling the DuckDuckGo VPN establishes a secure, encrypted connection (VPN tunnel) between your device and one of our VPN servers. For all your device’s network traffic that passes through this tunnel, the VPN prevents others, such as your Internet Service Provider, from seeing this activity. It also prevents your Internet destinations, like web sites, from seeing your device’s IP address.
Is all network traffic protected or only web browsing?
The VPN protects Internet connections across your full device, not just your web browsing activity. If the VPN experiences an interruption, all internet traffic will automatically be blocked until the VPN either reconnects or you turn off the VPN.

Not sure, but it looked like it was installed at a Windows level…
Someone smarter can verify.
it’s because the responding server is hosted in a microsoft (azure) data center
No, it’s still private without upgrading, it just adds new features like a VPN if you choose to upgrade
What does this have to do with anything
yeah they had to make it USA ONLY because of the INSURANCE part I guess… sucks for me, I’m based in Aust, … having those credit card protections would of been nice to have… sigh
Yeah, sucks that as a VPN Beta user I get the notification of the 40% discount code, but not actually any possibility of using said discount or the product its for
You are not paying for the browser, you are paying for extra protection features attached to the browser. The VPN and extra features are the only things that cost money
Thanks, I’ll check it out
Thanks
Oddly enough, when I click the link from their announcement here on Reddit on my device it enabled.
Weird.
Heads up android fam, it has split tunneling, but system level apps aren’t displayed yet (visual voicemail, for example, that won’t work on a VPN. )
when I check my IP on Chrome it shows the same IP and location as DDG. So it LOOKS like it is handling all traffic. I would be interested to see how and if it handled split tunneling on devices tho
Any idea how that affects things like streaming BBC iplayer, which requires a UK ip address to access? Would BBC recognize DDG as US only and boot anyone accessing their content through them?
