Ivacy VPN acquired by PureVPN, lifetime deal no longer automatic

Ivacy VPN (very popular on StackSocial) was acquired by PureVPN. You have 35 days to manually port, but the lifetime deal you bought is not being ported. Before it was set to autorenew for free every 5 years, now they put a renewal price for you to pay but you can contact support 2 days before expiry (so that people forget to do that) to ask for fee waiver. I hate practices like these, seen plenty of abuses. https://member.ivacy.com/announcement

Support replied, lifetime for them means 5 years, I’m in business for 25+ years so that’s kinda weird. Look it up further after sending proof and StackSocial clearly saying “After 5 years, please reach out to support/@ivacy.com to renew your subscription free of charge.”? Don’t use that email anymore btw.

"Thank you for migrating from Ivacy to PureVPN, and we would like to warmly welcome you to our service, upon checking the account details, the plan was an Ivacy lifetime plan, which is a 5-year plan, therefore, after its expiration, the account will be billed for continuation.

Nevertheless, if you have made the initial purchase through Stack Social, we can look it up further, and in that case, you are suggested to share the screenshot of the purchase receipt, so that we can assist you further, please share a screenshot"

Sadly Ivacy VPN and PureVPN are owned by the same company anyway.

This is just a scam to make more money out of the Ivacy customers.

Anyone else having issues porting over their account to Pure?

This is clearly a scam. I wonder if it’s possible for a class action suit

we will see, migrated and wrote the support to request LIFETIME STATUS again. Let’s see bud…

Pure VPN didn’t honor lifetime subscriptions in the past…and won’t do it in the future…I had ivacy and I ported…I contacted pure support and they said life time means 5 years in the tech industry …I just laughed at it.'Cuz I am from an IT background myself …take your business somewhere else … that’s another scam…life time deals aren’t profitable and no company can survive with such a business model …beside that pure past of logs and handing data to authorities…I’d sell my data at that point … don’t say I didn’t warn you

I talked to their support. and ivacy users have to pay again even if they were lifetime. end of the discusion

I am am not on their lifetime subscription, just one year at a time which I opted not to Renew with IVANCY but it seems now that I have no option but to disclose all my payment details again to PureVPN then click a little box below saying no to Auto Renew AGAIN,.

Even after reentering all my payment details again, the next screen says that it does not work and to contact customer service only for it to take you to the home page when you click on that link to customer service, you just go round in a loop.

PureVPN is a shit, I deleted my PureVPN account long ago and did this for a reason. Anybody knows if one can request refund of Ivacy money instead of porting to PureVPN?

These lifetime deals appear to be a bit of a grift. They always find a way to weasel additional money from you. The worst I experienced was CloudAtCost. Very consumer unfriendly and likely in violation of EU consumer protection laws.

Is that why the desktop and mobile apps stop working?

I just looked through my emails and can’t even see a record of receiving an email notifying me of this porting and requirement to log-in to port to PureVPN.

Once that is done, let’s see what they say about my lifetime deal especially given that the FAQs clearly state:

"Will my current Ivacy plan change?

No, your existing Ivacy plan will be honored by PureVPN"

Let’s see if I can get ported - but with the comments below it doesn’t bode well from their CS perspective…

I bought mine through Mashable and still have the receipt.:money_bag:

Porting took me less than 2 minutes. I was instantly able to log in and use my purevpn account after porting.

Tried to download Ivacy again and saw all this shit, I had no mail informing me this is happening and I lost the conversion time as-well. What a circus. Wish we could do something about it

I’m a lifetime member of Ivany.

So purevpn doesn’t have any of the quick connect streaming platform specific servers ivacy had? That sucks if so. I know you can just connect to a server in the country, but ivacy made some effort to make sure the ones those used weren’t being blocked.

Yes, “try again later or contact support”…

contact their CS to migrate to new system, and dont forget to renew every 5 years

I sent them my invoice from Stack Social and they said they will renew mine when it expires. We shall see. Class action suits only benefits lawyers, a complete waste of time for regular consumers.
