I’m using VPN super unlimited proxy, the app has rather high reviews with a near 5 star overall, but folks say that the app steals all the data from your phone, including ur contacts, Apple ID, your notes, your passwords, credit card numbers, etc, this true? Will this app steal everything on my phone? I just want to watch some anime without having money stolen from my iTunes account man, I have 50$ cashed in but haven’t spent a single penny on it, I don’t wanna lose money and data you feel me?
This chart is one of the best on the web:
Scroll down to “VPN Comparison Charts” and choose “all” in “Show __ entries” (defaults to 10.)
The app can’t access data on your phone unless you allow it to (it will have to request permissions to access contacts, apple pay info, etc). Use your common sense if that happens and ask yourself: Why would a VPN app need access to my contacts? Or my apple pay? Or my camera? etc.
They can’t see the information you enter on websites or apps unless the websites are not using HTTPS which no proper website these days would do.
"They are more likely tracking and selling your browsing information (what sites you visit, your rough location, and any other info they can gather). They sell this info to advertising and profiling companies because running a VPN is not free, and if you are not paying for it, they have to make their money somewhere. Also, the name “VPN super unlimited proxy” sounds very sketchy to be honest. They could also be injecting their own ads in the sites you visit.
When in doubt stick to known companies, ProtonVPN has a free tier with some limitations, it may or may not work for your usage.
bruhhhh I just NOW noticed bc i kept getting my usual $100 random apple charges and WTF y am I paying for this???
It’s not bad inherently , but just know what you’re getting in to. A pretty decent amount of symptoms involving some sort of network access (email not working, safari not connecting, apps not seeing the internet) can be attributed to misconfigured VPNs. When someone asks about them, I’m not about to figure out the ins and outs of how your VPN works, I’m just going to say “it works fine with the VPN off, the rest is up to you”.
I would avoid the free services, you are the product, not the customer. They are making money from you somehow…
Enjoy!
