Been reading about countless scandals where VPN providers either sold users data or handed them over to authority. Is there a list of VPNs with proven privacy practices? Been using AVAST SecureLine VPN but i recently discovered AVAST’s shady history.
Mullvad, Proton and Windscribe
Edit: Read this if you have the time

What I’ve learned from a bit of VPN research on Reddit is that I shouldn’t trust 90% of the comments about which VPN to go for.
Didn’t Proton get fingers pointed at them within a year or two ago?
I remember a good bit of talk, quick search only shows ProtonMail logged IP address of French activist after order by Swiss authorities | TechCrunch lol
Either way, Complying to the law of any country isn’t great for users.
I like Mullvad and IVPN for just torrenting. Maybe random here & there speed is needed.
Tor for actual privacy while browsing.
Mullvad stands above the rest.
Then follows IVPN, OVPN, AirVPN and ProtonVPN.
The rest has been proven untrustworthy.
What scandals? Can u share the info?
So Nord VPN isn’t a reliable provider?
store your payment info
they store the Payment info for each 1 month.
they removed Longer subs so they can Legally short term store them , with longer subs they are forced to by law to store them for the duration for tax and stuff.
Windscribe really doesn’t get enough recognition. I had no problems with them at all before I switched to Mullvad.
Windscribe?
Yeah… that’s a no.
ExpressVPN has audits done too. Are those trusted?
I know that the VPN industry is corrupt, but did the VPN providers infiltrate this sub?
Many in this thread recommended mullvad…
Theres a ton of shilling for VPN / ads getting spammed sadly.
i think that was protonmail and not protonvpn but i agree either way they should have held their ground
VPN providers leaking/selling/handing over customers data and VPN companies buying VPN reviews companies to promote their VPNs
They allow payment in Monero, however. So if you want to leave no record, this would be the way to go.
So why’d you switch?
ExpressVPN has audits done too. Are those trusted?
Honestly doesnt matter , express is part of kape , which was known as crossrider.
dont touch anything kape
I touch on that in the preamble of this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/rikthc/list_of_recommended_vpns_2022/
The reason why you should mistrust everything you read about VPNs is due to affiliate marketing. Every time you see a recommendation and it has a link attached to it, don’t trust it. However, Mullvad has no affiliate program so either we’re all Mullvad employees or just happy users.
Absolutely, they also allow to mail in money with your acc Id on it.
No need for a return address or any other data.
Did it a few times works nice.
