Hulu knows I'm using a VPN

You might have a DNS leak that reveals your geolocation. Check at https://www.dnsleaktest.com

Just turn of the VPN wist for it to load then turn your VPN back on connected to a USA server

Get self hosted vds, install amnezia, set protocol to Xray Reality.
Aaan noone will say yiu are in vpn

look up your ip on sites like ip2location
those have ip-geolocation and proxy database

You could switch to a residential proxy and fix the issue, i did a post on my profile for the same problem on paramount plus and it works flawless

Try changing the protocol to Stealth. In the past it has worked better than the default option.

Note: I’m using a paid account, and I’m in the United States.

Are you using a free server? I have no issues with access on paid tier. If you’re on paid, try different server/country.

I’ve run into this as well, and can confirm that you just need to find a VPN server that hasn’t been blocked by Hulu. Took several tries for me today.

Using the UDP protocol instead of TCP (often) works for me in bypassing those checks.

Everybody knows your little secret

Change protocol I have no issues, I use that protocol as default

Thanks to everyone who contributed by their comments. To those who suggested stealth mode, I don’t think it’s a thing. One of the selling points of ProtonVPN is plenty of servers, so websites don’t know you’re using a VPN.

I disconnected from ProtonVPN and reconnected in order to get another server, and this time, it worked!

To those who suggested setting up the VPN on my router, I have ATT, and I don’t think this is doable, at least not without installing a new ROM code.

Cheers!

i think you are supposed to use the stealth protocol in these cases

Only real long term solution is to get a dedicated ip adress

I am not sure that a site has to rely on IP addresses to know that you are using a VPN.

I have noticed that my local device - my iPhone, my iPad, MacBook, etc. - add a VPN icon to the top of the screen near the time, wireless icon, user name, etc.

I have assumed that services that don’t want you using a VPN can get the info that you are using a VPN from the local device and filter that way.

Maybe I am wrong about that.

I thought this was common knowledge.

You can use P2P VPN such as VPNGate, it’s free but slow on avg probs around 10-30Mbps and connection is unreliable since it’s random ppl aka volunteers hosting their own IP so once the host closes the app or shuts down the computer the connection is gone. Those IP’s don’t identify as VPN, they’re from actual real ISP’s so it’s very unlikely that those IP’s will be blacklisted by streaming platforms and other services/tools.

For movie streaming that might be good enough.

i wonder if ipv6 will make it harder

Doesn’t proton route streaming traffic through residential IP’s?
