They also offer a free VPN package. Not sure how different it is from a paid option in terms of speed, etc. Obviously no customer support on free option. Try it yourself.
I just got it and it sucks to be honest I want to go to YouTube but it just won’t connect to the Poland VPN it just says no internet and I will never use it ever again because it just wants me to upgrade I will not give you guys money just to watch YouTube videos !
I used to be on paid, and had no issues. Never been in contact with customer support, so can’t really judge that. I went back to free tier some time back due to reasons, and that’s naturally more sucky.
Been using them for over a year with just the basic package. Never had any issues. I did notice they did a major server upgrade last year that dramatically increased speeds. It was getting pretty slow for a while, was nice to see they invested in their infrastructure. I only had one customer service inquiry and it was about a BTC payment that got stuck on the chain for a while and lost value in the process. Wasn’t their fault, but I ended up paying more than the cost because of the value of BTC dropping while it was stuck. Again, not their fault and I learned a valuable lesson, only make purchases like that during slower network times or start using the lightning network.
Just did a speed test on 5G on a server in country and I’m getting 125/20.
I have used ProtonVPN since the beta version (I started with protonmail - free version, around 2016-2017.They added ProtonVPN beta around that time).
No problems.
The speed is good.
For example,on my windows 10 pc and my Mac - Ethernet - base is 119 Mb/s and with the nearest server speed is ~ 105 Mb/s,secure core is 85 Mb/s.
wifi on my thinkpads w/ Linux and my IPad/IPhone varies.
I try 1 month subscriptions its amazing this way better than Express*** for streaming I can watch both Netflix & Amazon Prime as Well Disney+. its great p2p too just dont forget bind your interface before you’re start p2p downloading.
I enjoy their services, and I use them on and off. The only downfall I saw was torrents—no port forwarding.
Other than that, I had no issues. I also loved the use of tor without the browser.
The best thing about ProtonVPN is the parent company being so trustworthy. Proton is very transparent and public about their employees and address. Good luck finding anything about the owner of other VPNs.
If it is discovered Nord VPN is logging traffic, they can shut down and start up somewhere else. Proton has a lot more to lose. They would lose all their VPN subscribers and Mail subscribers, and the reputation of everyone involved would be tarnished forever in the privacy space.
I’ve had protonmail and proton since beta n 2017.
Started out free,then upgraded.
Speeds are good. For example: on Windows and Mac ,105/120,secure core is 80.
No serious issues, just minor stuff, but always received replies within 12 hours.
No complaints.
A friend recommended proton over Nord and I just downloaded the free version. My texts aren’t working and half of my apps won’t load. If I upgrade, does anyone know if this changes? Or do I need to find a different vpn?
I paid for a year of premium service and now for some reason I’ve been down graded to the free service and cannot find where to talk to someone about this
Hello Friends,
I wanted to update an app that was previously downloaded from playstore without protonvpn, I recently tried to update the app but I noticed the update was pending for long, on pulling down my notification bar, I saw that (probably Google was sending a kill switch request) proton VPN was processing being disconnected but as soon as the kill switch request was approved, the app updated with lightning speed and now Proton VPN pretend it’s didn’t permit Google and never went off by itself even though I made it’s block every activities that doesn’t go through it, GOOGLE is definitely the INTERNET LORD, VPNs are just like sun shades
Well, I’m using ProtonVPN on my Router. Purchased the Plus plan for 1 month to give it a test. So far, the only leaks I found were in my browser, WebRTC and Geolocation, but since I denied access to location, it was unable to determine that. WebRTC needs to be disabled and is enabled on Firefox by default, this allows the hacker to possibly manipulate via these methods, once disabled, no longer detected.
Currently, showing NO IPV6 leak either.
Not a paid ad, not a bot. If you want, message me in a month and I’ll let you know then how I like it. I want to say speeds are great, but I just purchased it this morning, and I’ve been WFH so I can’t turn off my QoS until after, but it seems that when I make my personal PC a High Priority, it is really fast without SecureCore.
On SecureCore servers, it’s a bit slower. But, I use SecureCore on my phone due to banking and such.
It keeps disconnecting for no reason
How do I speed up proton vpn? I use the free trial atm and it runs slow on my phone. Pc it’s not too bad.
I have the Sentinel package and it’s absolutely outstanding. I love the encrypted cloud storage of 500gb that comes with that plan
Hey there! A year later, do you have any updates to your ProtonVPN experience?
How is it for Streaming? Still loving it?
Funny this account said theirs and others data was leaked when the linked article clearly states “The attack was against one of NordVPN’s 5,000+ VPN servers, not its central infrastructure. As a result, the intruder had no access to user credentials, billing details or any other profile-related information.”
And it goes even further to state how little/useless info the hackers could even theoretically get.
Why does this read like an ad…?
Surfshark has got to be paying you.
