How to use it? I mean, seriously guys

Hi people, I’ve recently made some researchs about VPNs because I really care about my privacy (I think we should all) and I’ve seen lots of reviews about it. I’ve decided to give a try to NordVPN but I don’t really understand the software… First and foremost, I’ve watched the “tutorial” on the website and everything’s ok but…

Basically, we just double click to launch the software, we choose either the country we want or which server we want to be located and then we start the connection. But what about after that? Ok, the software are saying you’re using another IP, but some websites are still locating me to my current country and that is something I don’t want at all. And it is still something that I don’t understand. Let’s imagine, I’m saying, with NordVPN, I want to be in the United States. Why is blabla.com (for the example) saying that I’m still on my country? Whi is Youtube still aware that I’m not from there and still proposing me videos of my own country?

Basically my question is : except from the IP, how do I really know NordVPN is really active? Because right now, I feel it isn’t.

Thanks for the help!

Try this. Assuming you are on windows, open network connections and click on your active connection. Go to properties (will need admin access/UAC).
In the dialog box that pops up, uncheck the box for IPv6.
Now connect nord again, go to dnsleaktest.com, click on extended test and let us know what servers you see.
This is the primary or rather only reason i can think of as IPv6 is not supported by nord and if thats enabled it can cause a dns leak.

Disclaimer: i am still a n00b so please be patient if this answer is way off the mark.

I decided to buy just half a year subscription, and immediately realized that this is the worst the VPN, constantly falls off, a lot of servers, which does not want to be connected. I decided to return the money. Posted in favor, the money does not return and do not meet, how the VPN, I do not advise. Return the money! my request (ID # 625515)

Either this or you are signed in to said services by which they might pull your country from your account.
