Hi everyone, I want to share with you a simple way to create a shortcut for VPN on iOS that you can access from the control center. This works with any VPN service that supports actions in the Shortcuts app (for example, Surfshark does). Here are the steps:
- Make sure you have the VPN app installed and connected at least once. This will enable a hidden VPN tile in the settings app that you can use to toggle the VPN on and off.
- Create a new Full Immersion (I named it VPN). You don’t need to configure anything, just create it.
- Create a new automation triggered by the start of the VPN Full Immersion shortcut and another one triggered by the stop of the VPN Full Immersion shortcut. These automations will control the activation of the VPN.
- In each automation, add the corresponding action for the VPN (Surfshark has connect action and disconnect action)
Now you can tap the Full Immersion icon in your control center to find the VPN one you created and toggle it on or off. You can also use Siri to activate or deactivate the VPN Full Immersion.
I hope this helps someone who wants a quick way to access their VPN without opening the app every time. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
Full Immersion
FYI, in English, Apple calls this feature Focus.
I just discovered that in English it’s the Focus function, not “Full Immersion”
I’m sorry for the confusion!
does it work for Mullvad VPN?
Why not a simply shortcut on your home screen?

This is a good use of Focus modes if you don’t already utilize them. But if you already utilize them for their intended purpose, you lose the Focus you were in when you want to use VPN.
It’s clunky, but you could create two versions of each focus mode you use, one with VPN and one without.
What on Earth is “Full Immersion “?
What is a “Settings Tile?”
Thank you man ! WireGuard work very well
This is totally unrelated to ChatGPT being banned in Italy, I assume…
How do you create an automation?
Does not work for google One VPN because google is dumb.
Thank you I’ll edit the post
I just tried, sadly mullvad only has an option to connect, not disconnect.
I wrote an email to them suggesting the feature to be added
It is possible, just set it up with your tutorial. In shortcuts app just search for “vpn” choose it and it will suggest mullvad. You can set another automation also for turning off.
how about you try it and see?

I agree. It seems too complicated compared to a shortcut on the screen or tap action in Widgy.
Full Immersion is a Focus Mode (I’m guessing by the screenshot anyway)
This is hilarious, why the downvotes?
Lol, did you check OPs post history before posting?
