There’s no longer the option to switch off connect on demand.
Since upgrading to iOS 18, safari on mobile data doesn’t work with VPN. It literally won’t load.
Just delete the vpn, General > VPN & Device Management
it’s not an iOS problem but a problem with both your vpn and mobile carrier

I haven’t updated to iOS 18 and I am still on 17.1 so I cannot comment on it but r/iphone and r/ios might help
If you’re on beta 2 it could be a bug? I’ve been testing since iOS 9, and this is without a doubt the worst beta I’ve ever laid eyes on. Across two devices, a 14 Pro and a 15 Pro. Yesterday my 15 Pro’s battery went from 100% to dead in around 3 hours time. For no reason. Then there’s stuff like this, issues with HomeKit functionality, app icons turning into grid lines, constantly freezing apps and keyboard, and issues with Spotlight Search.
All that being said, maybe wait for the next beta to come out to see if it gets fixed.

Right now i update to ios 18.2 but still automatically vpn turn on, i try to turn it off but it become on i confused.
hmm, maybe delete the VPN app then reinstall it. or maybe the VPN needs an update
