Has anyone tried the Brave VPN? Thoughts?

Yeah, I’ve used it. Seems to work well. I haven’t really used other VPN to be able to give comparisons or anything. There’s a lot of work being done for improvements as we go along, such as giving more options on places you can connect. Right now that is a bit limited. Like I can only choose United States East, Central, Northwest, or West. All other countries just have one choice.

I know when I tried United States East, it seemed to connect to New York. I’m in Florida. Needless to say that causes a bit of latency and/or low download speeds. Tests below are the mbps speeds tracked by speedtest.net

Speedtest with no VPN

  • Test 1: Download: 432.08 Upload: 11.82
  • Test 2: Download : 396.12 Upload 11.83

When using VPN just now to test, my results were:

  • Test 1: Download 54.47 Upload: 7.10
  • Test 2: Download 89.59 Upload 7.90

I switched to USA (Central) which connected to Chicago, Illinois

  • Test 1: Download 166.47 Upload 11.29
  • Test 2: Download: 158.23 Upload 11.36

So that’s the weakness with it.

So, apart from the drastic reduction in speed, being near twice the price of some and having no other VPN to compare it too, you rate it as ‘‘works well’’?

Perhaps resist the overwhelming desire to post, when your knowledge is limited to use of the on/off toggle.

There’s no leaks to reveal your actual location, it blocks trackers, they don’t collect or sell your information, etc.

I just was being honest in that I’ve not personally used others so can’t directly compare performance.
