Free VPN services I’ve tried.
ProtonVPN: Extremely fast, unlimited free usage on free servers. But sometimes free servers are 100% utilized and unusable. Some functionality, such as disconnection protection are pro features.
Windscribe: Very slow[high ping and low bitrate(only getting 7mbps), can’t find a lower ping than 77ms in Calgary], 10gb free cap [+20GB with code: PEACE]
VeePN: Only free in browser, no caps, no login, fast[150mbps] but high ping[77ms lowest to Calgary]
Hotspot Shield: Free no cap, no login needed, no auto-reconnect, limited to 5mbps but low 30ms ping.
HideMe: limited to 10gb, lowest ping [18ms] and moderately fast [60mbps]
I tried some other ones, can’t think of them right now though. Please let me know of other good free VPNs, leave your experiences etc.
If a VPN is free, then your data is the prize. If you are using a VPN for security, for the love of what ever you believe in, pay for something outside the 14 eyes.
Use multiple paid reputable vpn services free versions with limited bandwidth. When ones bandwidth data ends switch to another.
Not free but why not setup a VPS on vultr or digital Ocean for $5/month and run your own openvpn or Wireguard server?
20ms and great data transfer speed with Nord. No complaints.
Psiphon does a good job as a vpn. From what I have read some places it doesn’t make a user anonymous but if someone else here has used it do let us know.
Betternet VPN
Needed to download some things real quick and this got the job done. I got 55mbps speed while occasionally touching 80mbps with 60ms ping.
no login, no choice of servers, no caps, no assurance of privacy. But if free is what you’re looking for, this checks all the marks.
I have a real question. Is necessary a VPN for the normal task on the internet? What kind of task need to consider a VPN use. Btw I’m from Colombia, so, I don’t have many restrictions on internet use.
Free doesn’t exist. If it’s free, you’re paying with your data.
Can you link me to an article about what you said in the 2nd paragraph?
By card you mean credit card right?
Blocked websites, piracy, if your ISP, employer or members of your household check your network traffic…
All ones listed in my OP have good privacy rules, because they’re restricted to data caps, or few servers to promote their monetized service. AKA demo products.
If it’s free, YOU are the product.
