ELI5: What is the use of a VPN and how can I "get" one?

Just pointing out that an Equilateral triangle would NOT be

200 from A-B
While
50 from A-C or B-C

An equilateral triangle would be 200 from A-B, A-C and B-C

For what it’s worth, this is probably the closest ELI5 analogy in this post

EDIT: To clarify, I guess you’re right about rather downloading it directly but when the speed is at least 20x faster, and you’re downloading huge chunks of data, then I guess, at least for me, downloading via VPN and saving locally is okay. Also, at least even while we’re away, the internet is being used.

I see. Forgive me if this is becoming too complex but your situation involved two networks being connected together. I which case, anyone connected to either network gets access to everything that’s on the VPN. Here’s the question:

Can VPNs also “connect” let’s say, a network, and 5 terminals? If yes, then in this case, every terminal has to have a login right?

I didn’t say distance, I specified speed from point to point.

Awesome, glad that made sense.

Yes. However many VPNs do not require a password to use.

That is how many people back in school use to get through the school’s website filter.
