ELI5- How to put a VPN on my EERO so that my TV gets British soccer?

I like to watch foreign soccer and many times it requires that I VPN to a UK address. Easy to do on my laptop. However, I want to watch it on my large TV which picks up the IP address from the EERO. Is there an easy way to put a VPN on my EERO router?

If not, I know I can get a firwalla (purple?) and put it before the ERRO in bridge mode. That’s more complicated IMHO.

I just have a vpn on my phone or computer, and cast it to Apple TV/Roku.

Plug your laptop into your tv

Trying to make a similar thing work now. Here’s my situation and where I am so far:

I’m in the Philadelphia area. My dad is in Florida, and I want to let him watch the eagles (American football) this season as well as the Phillies (baseball). It’s especially tough with sports, here in the US at least, due to a bunch of licensing issues that exist.

I have Verizon Fios and he’s got Xfinity (I think.) We both have gigabit internet connections, and eero pro 6’s. To solve for the VPN, I set up a Firewalla Gold VPN Server. He then set up a Firewalla Purple and used the VPN Client to connect his entire network to mine. Our hope is, being on the VPN, he can use the Fios Stream app on his Fire Stick, and the location will see him as being in Philadelphia.

He moves in a couple weeks from now, so we’ll know then if it all actually works. Right now it’s a theory with a bunch of hardware waiting to be installed on his end

You need a real firewall/router product, such as firewalla or pf/opnSense, to do what you’re looking to do.

Short version is you can’t. The only way to get that to work is with a firewalla or another device like it with a built in vpn client. The eero itself does not have a vpn client so it can’t do this itself.

There are other dns based services that can allow you to access these services from outside the uk, but in my experience they are all playing cat and mouse games with foreign content streaming services. As such they aren’t always the most reliable.

Just buy a IPTV receiver like formuler z10 ect. And buy a IPTV service from AliExpress that would cost ~$35 a year and you can watch the tv channels from around the world.

Always try to find the right tool for the right job.

It’s football not soccer

Edit: stupid Americans downvoting because they don’t want to hear the truth

You can’t really with eero, but you can run a VPN on the device you use to watch soccer, or like you said get any other router basically (like the Firewalla) and run the VPN there. The first way is per device and the second way would be for the whole network.

Not really. It derives from the word Association from the British when there were 2 leagues of football. One is what is known as soccer the other now rugby.

Both were called a form of football.

Association football and rugby football.
Association was short formed to SOC or soccer eventually.
