Can you use a vpn to keep using Kaspersky?

What I’m asking here is if I use a vpn location outside of the US, will Kaspersky continue to update its database? If not, then what are some good alternatives that are under 40 dollars a year?

I’m not in the US and some machines updated to UltraAV - so I think their accounts defaulted to US on install and a VPN won’t affect that

People in India are facing the same issue and it looks like Kaspersky is shutting globally.

I resolved this by going into the Kaspersky software settings and I disabled the default “Kaspersky Update Servers” and then added a new source of http://dbl-01.geo.kaspersky.com/ and now it’s able to update the virus definitions automatically. I am NOT using a VPN and I am located in the United States.

Most of the critical protection features continue to work, however, those that rely on US Servers, such “Data Leak Checker” & “Kaspersky Security Network” won’t work. But the antivirus protection and firewall functionality still operate normally as far as I can tell.

If you prefer to switch to a new product, I would recommend Bitdefender. You can purchase it on Amazon for fairly cheap.

If they bought used licences that were originally activated in US then it’s expected. There are a lot of sites selling used licences.
