Asking for a good VPN?
Haven’t had one before so don’t really know much about them and really just want it for the Netflix benefits.
Can I put the program on a flash drive and plug it straight into the modem to cover all household products with access to the Internet.
TIA.
This is a decent question, and I don’t have a solid answer to the main part since I don’t have a VPN myself - although there are a LOT of YouTubers who offer deals with promo codes, so definitely don’t pay full price for whatever you go for. I’d suggest starting by trying out a VPN for free using a promo code and if it works well, you can stick with it. I know Internet Historian regularly promotes Nord VPN and Jay Foreman promotes SurfShark, but there’s surely many others.
But mostly I wanted to say that while your idea of setting up the VPN at the network level (on your router) is a great one, I’m pretty sure you can’t put a program on a USB and plug it in. Instead I think you’d have to look for VPN settings in the router’s web UI and enter details that your VPN of choice would provide. So it might be worth checking what your router supports, or looking for details on how to set up the VPN you choose (its a pretty common request so I daresay they’ll have guides on their websites).
Good luck!
Proton VPN is pretty good.
Used to use ExpressVPN was decent no complaints then I discovered real debrid and Kodi built in vpn and all the shows or movies I can think of
I’ve been a NordVPN user now for over a year, and I like their service. I’ve tested multiple providers, (ExpressVPN, SurfShark, Proton) I landed on Nord and it’s been the best and cheapest option so far. Apps work flawlessly on all my iOS devices, no issues accessing streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+.
You can check the NordVPN Promotion page to see if they’re running any deals because they regularly do. Good luck!
I pay for dashlane password manager and get hotspot VPN included in the price… I don’t know if it’s better/worse than others but it’s a good PKG deal.
I should also add I never have any issues connecting whereas often I did with nordvpn.
I’ve used a couple but that was all before a i got NBN so i don’t want to besmirch their names if the shit speeds were my fault. Currently i use getflix, my partner watches BBC without speed issues via geo spoofing and i get decent download speeds when i sail the high seas.
Express VPN is most recommended- I use it for Netflix and other streaming services. I also use it when using my Mac laptop at airports for additional security (& other public places)
Works a treat
Get one that’s not based in USA or Oz, so they can’t be subpoena 'd for logs etc.
I use AirVPN, based in Europe and they make a point of not keeping logs…
If you want true anonymity, Mullvad.
You don’t need to provide any identifying information: not even an email address. There is no account username or password. You can pay by literally sending cash in the mail (among other more normal methods). They don’t do sponsorships or paid ads.
Not the cheapest but I like their attitude!
None of the VPNs (free or not) I tried will let you get the US Netflix. It looks like it but it’s not really when I compare what should be on it.
I use “Private VPN”. Limited bloody nodes, but it works for a certain channel I want to watch in the “previously in the EU” part of the world.
PIA is great for Netflix.
General purpose (streaming, ease of use, etc): ProtonVPN, NordVPN
My pick would most likely be ProtonVPN if money is no concern. Otherwise, you can get NordVPN on the cheap via regular cashback promotions. Cashrewards is the company I would recommend in Australia. Unfortunately there was literally just a 96% cashback offer running which ended a few days ago I believe. But I’m sure it will be back soon.
I want to note that streaming providers like Netflix have cracked down heavily on VPN providers in recent years by blacklisting their servers, and it can be quite a task finding a server that works. Arguably the more mainstream VPNs like Nord are better for this since they can afford to play this cat and mouse game, and they a shit load of servers, meaning it’s very likely you’ll find at least one server that works.
Can I put the program on a flash drive and plug it straight into the modem to cover all household products with access to the Internet.
You would configure the settings on the modem itself, usually via VPN configuration settings. But to my knowledge, the vast majority of ISP-issued routers here in Australia do not support VPN configurations. At least my Telstra smart modem doesn’t :). If this is the case for your modem, your best option is simply getting the right app of the VPN provider you’re with for each of your devices, if applicable.
Finally, every VPN will have different limitations on how many devices can be connected to the VPN simultaneously per user. Just to name a few, ExpressVPN has support for up to 5, NordVPN has up to 6, ProtonVPN has up to 10.
Hope this helps.
I use Kaspersky’s VPN. It’s under $50.00 annually for my desktop and laptop, is lightweight and works very well
If you are still looking for a good VPN in then, I would recommend you can use PIA VPN because it offers great security features for online privacy. I am also using this VPN and I have very good experience with this VPN during streaming.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve been going to do it for years but have survived the meta data governance without having to infringe copyrights and pull movies down but definitely find that we hicks here at the bottom of the world get punished $$$ for content.
I occasionally have luck with surfshark and US Netflix. I find you have to go through the browser though not an app

Wouldn’t trust them. The Russian government is probably spying on it.
