Best VPN for Linux (Open-Source)

Is there any open-source VPN for Linux expect openvpn

I’m curious, what do you not like about OpenVPN?

Lots of them: openconnect (with ocserv on the server side), StrongSwan/LibreSwan, Wireguard, pptpd, SoftEther VPN server (multiple protocols supported), tinc. Even OpenSSH can be used as VPN server/client.

It depends on your goals which one will be the best in a particular case.

Mullvad has a native Linux client that’s open-source. It uses the OpenVPN protocol but they’ve been starting to integrate WireGuard too.

not sure if you’re aware, but OpenVPN is a VPN client. it’s the program you use to connect to a VPN provider. a VPN provider would be let’s say proxy.sh or ExpressVPN. they are the companies providing the servers you connect to and route your encrypted network data through

Strongswan which uses the IPsec protocol and Wireguard are two examples.

I like SoftEther because I’ve used it for a long time, but the testing I’ve done with Wireguard seems faster.

OpenVPN for the Win. This implementation is even used in some high-end company like WatchGuard SSL VPN

Etc. Etc.

Pritunl is pretty easy, based on openvpn though but it takes literally three clicks to install. https://pritunl.com

I use ExpressVPN. It works and has a native linux client that makes setup easy. Just my 2 cents. g’luck.

Can you give YouTube video link for how to use OpenVPN (working method) because I tried lot but always failed…

I need only for browsing

I stopped using the client and only use the Wireguard integration now
I really don’t know why every vpn provider has their own client if linux has perfect openvpn and to some extent Wireguard support

Also Wireguard works a slightly bit more fluid, but thats maybe only my perception

Just FYI, almost all of the VPN providers out there claim not to keep logs. We have no proof of this, only their word. Something worth bearing in mind when considering security and privacy.

Are you trying to connect to another computer you own, or a 3rd party service?

there’s many “install openvpn” scripts over internet, for example i’m used that script openvpn-install someday, it’s like next - next - next - get_your_ovpn_file
