Best Free VPN Android TV

I’m looking for an alternative to Proton VPN on my Android TV. I usually use Psiphon on my phone and it has many free gateways but unfortunately it is available on Android. Is there any alternative that provides multiple locations for free? Thanks

Windscribe isn’t free but you can purchase single countries for like a dollar or 2 a month. Cheap and works a charm.

I just tested the free version of the Proton VPN for a friend to use on an Android TV, and it worked very well. It has unlimited usage and it’s easily as fast as the paid Surfshark one I’ve used for years, with no drop outs over connections lasting 5, and up to 8 hours.
The only issues for some might be, you only get 3 countries. USA, Japan, and Netherlands. They do have many servers to choose from. You can only use it on 1 device, and you have to sign up on their website.

with VPNs you get what you pay for. Free ones barely work, and will rat you out to the Cops/Feds at any moment(they have no financial gain not to!)

Windscribe

works!

The main issue with Proton on the TV is the app has zero settings. Just on and off VPN.

I want to split tunnel so only one app is on the VPN and I can still cast to the box, I want to auto connect at startup, etc.

Someone complained to them about it 2 years ago and they still haven’t done anything about the ATV app.

I might try side loading the phone app

I haven’t used Proton very much. I tested it briefly and I think I would use it before any other free VPN. I don’t use split tunneling, so I probably overlooked it. I’m not sure if this applies to Proton, however I purchased a service through a promotion. All features for all devices, they said. I installed the Android TV version from the download page, and found that some features don’t work or I couldn’t locate the settings for them on the TV. The kill switch was unavailable because it uses this feature from the mobile phones VPN settings. I contacted the company, and was told that some features don’t work on Android TV devices. I said, all features on all devices hey? He had no answer. I since found out that they only have one app for all android devices. I just mention this as a heads up to get all the information before paying for a service, so you know what your paying for. Although in this case, unless I contacted them first, they don’t publish the lack of features on TV devices.
