I have Touch VPN Chrome extension installed for months now but since yesterday, whenever i open Chrome avast is coming up with a warning saying,
URL : Phishing
URL: https: // ext.tricolorfashion / hss-free.json
And when i searched the Chrome Extension folder to find out which extension has this link in its script, i found that the Touch VPN has a background.js file which contains this link.
Disabling & Enabling the Touch VPN extension i receive that Avast Threat notification everytime.
I’m confused whether this is a genuine threat or Avast is just over analyzing
Because I’ve been using Touch VPN for long and its a concern if i’m phished.
- Thanks
>> I’m using Avast Free Antivirus version (24.1.8821.762)

First of all I would deinstall avast.
3th party av nowadays behave more like a virus.
Windows defender is good enough paired with a adblocker.
And i would never use a free VPN service.
They make money with you information.
Same here, avast give me the same message and I have Touch VPN Chrome Extension installed like you. I’ve been using it for long time, let me know what you find out about it thanks.
I’m not a security expert, quite the contrary actually, but judgign by the VirusTotal scan of this URL, I’d say that Avast is probably over analyzing: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/2d6fde540622940435fbfb1e26349331cb7312896cb5e3b631f660a4ab0792b7
I’ve got several tabs opened everyday. Separating one by one, I’ve begun closing the tab and shutting down the process from the icon tray in the right bottom corner. After several tries, I did find a tab, that was triggering the AVG pop-up. After I’ve closed it, AVG remained silent
I started getting this as well exactly 4 days ago. It’s getting pretty annoying. Might be the reason I’m finally uninstalling Avast
