So after looking on this sub and online it seems that this vpn is one of the best for China? It’s $30 for a month so not the worst but will both myself and my partner need to buy this or will one account work for two people?
I’m currently in China and took out subscriptions with Astrill and LetsVPN before we came.
Tried to use Astrill at first due to the ability to use the same account on multiple devices but I found it really flakey to get the server to connect.
Have now been using LetsVPN on both mine and my SO’s phone for 2 weeks with no issues and is really quick and easy to connect.
Added bonus that LetsVPN is a third of the price too.
If we come back again I’ll not bother with Astrill and stick to LetsVPN I think
As longs it is not nord vpn - absolutely useless on China would never connect
astrill vpn doesn’t work on my macbook at all, it works on my phone though. letsvpn works well on both my macbook and phone and it’s a lot cheaper (£1.99 a week) so i recommend letsvpn

Didn’t use Astril but would recommend LetsVPN. Cheap and simple to connect. And super cheap too. And you can use multiple devices logged into one account if I didn’t remember wrongly
Astril used to be good. The best, even. Not w it’s a piece of shit. Trust me. I’ve been using it for over ten years. Hell, maybe 15 years. In the last three years, they’ve doubled the prices, the service sucks, and you have to fuck around for hours trying to find a server that doesn’t suck.
astrill stores all your possible data and randomly suspends your account at their will, avoid them
In China right now commenting on Reddit using Astrill VPN. Works perfect and prob the best VPN I’ve used in China. So fast.
Btw. I don’t know what is happening in China now- but I am from
Scandinavia and I don’t need my vpn any longer. Facebook, Google, instagram etc. all works now. I can see from other posts that if you have a US number you also don’t necessarily need one. Just fyi. Me and my partner got nord vpn and have hardly used it. (We also have free roaming in China through our cell-company)

Yeah we followed advice here and got letsVPN and currently here in China and it’s worked perfectly for us and only cost us €10 for the month for premium !
On international roaming you virtually always could bypass the firewall- problem is that roaming for China is so expensive in most cases
With an eSIM you don’t need a vpn either

We’re coming from Ireland and we have gotten esims to have data roaming but we’re planning on getting the vpn for using wifi in hotels etc. but interesting it seems to be working thanks for letting us know. Im pregnant atm and I think to be extra safe I’ll probably end up getting a vpn just incase!
You get two devices, I’m not sure if they can both be phones cause I did my laptop and phone.
That said, I only needed the vpn when on hotel WiFi, and it actually caused issues if I tried to use it when using Alipay. If you get a local Chinese number instead of roaming your foreign phone, your experience may vary.
I think technically you can use it on two devices but I couldn’t sign in on both of our phones for some reason so had to quickly get my SO her own 1 month subscription when we got here. Was under 10 USD though so not too bad
We’ve both got Android phones so maybe it’s an app issue or something. Glad Astrill has worked for you though
